While this is technically a free game, fanatical wants you to link your steam account. So if you don't feel like giving Fanatical all your steam info, whatever they are asking for, then you cant have it. Oh and they also want you to subscribe to their newsletter. Annoying.

I remember looking this up the last time there was a freebie from Fanatical, I think the info they get from Steam is quite little (I can't now find a reference but I think it's username and a little more but no real name or email or any of the important stuff).
You could probably try creating a brand new Steam account with no info and linking that one to Fanatical to get the game, you could then use family sharing to make it available to your real account.
Yeah, i haven’t linked my steam account either, even though fanatical is a legit store and have i purchased game bundles from them before. I have no problems to un-subscribe to a newsletter, but i don’t like linking my game accounts if not absolutely necessary. But for people who already linked their account with fanatical before, there is no reason not to grab their free games. I edited the description with the requirements.
Can't you unlink them again? This should be doable on the Steam side.
