Lol, I feel like blaze is the one keeping tabs on admins/mods and generally the fediverseπŸ˜†

(Edti: Not saying it in a negative way:)

Hehe, I'm visiting that community, it's a good one:)

(I'm on average ~2hours daily on lemmy sorting all by new/hot/active with only a few communities blocked, so I see many of your posts/comments, as well as Sunshine's and other well-known people's hereπŸ˜„)

He is our steward and a great one at that!

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago

Maybe it’s the powertripping ones fearing the fedi sheriff!

Thanks for making a meme after me, it's funny and light.

There are other less funny and light people that could also fit in here, but if you know, you know.

A very active user account, concerned with promoting the Fediverse by donating lots of time to improving it. (And just a really cool dude 😎)

Blaze is one of the cornerstones of lemmy tbh.

And that's without being a dick to anyone without serious provocation, which is kinda batshit when you consider the raw number of assholes in the world. I've never actually seen them be a dick, I just assume it's possible.

Whether anyone agrees or disagrees with them on a specific issue, they put in more time to making lemmy work on a social level than anyone else I've seen.

The myth, the man, the legend!

[–] Emperor@feddit.uk 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Hold on, we're supposed to be keeping tabs on him? We may need more tabs.

[–] ekZepp@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

I agree. Great poster πŸ‘Œ

If he takes a karmic hit, he just loses his rings and keeps going, until he can power up again.

Those churros really make him unstoppable.

Yep! I do dev work and try out fedi accounts. I have a backup piefed.

[–] mesamunefire@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Good to "see" you again ;) lol.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago

Blaze accuses as he points with his gloved index finger.

[–] AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

More like he's modding half the comms.

Typical cycle

  • Look for a community about a topic that is not on LW (because being able to use a VPN is always nice)
  • Community exists but mod is missing
  • Post to community
  • Community start's getting traction
  • Open call to the community for mods
  • No one jumps in
  • Admins don't like unmoderated active communities, so they appoint me as mod
  • Posts about offering mods positions, still nobody wants them

Examples of communities at different stages of the cycle

If anyone is interested in becoming a mod in those, feel free to comment in them, !showsandmovies@lemm.ee has the relevant post pinned in the sidebar

He’s everywhere

Blaze is life, Blaze is love....

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm convinced there's some kind of Blaze farm spawning new Blazes.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I think Blaze likes to make accounts on interesting instances. I know I sure do as I’m dancing around with 9 accounts.

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 4 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

9?! What's the advantage of having so many? I created a couple of accounts on other instances as backups, but never use them.

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Different feeds. Typically I have

Being able to only see hobbies content is nice, but keeping tracks on the fediverse and tech is interesting too.

I wanted to try lemmy.cafe as they defederate lemmy.ml. It's a nice instance, it was just a tiny bit slow for me, so I moved back to sopuli.

Reddthat was very nice too but it can be indeed a bit slow for me

Lemmy.world, lemmy.ml and others I used to need before https://lemmy-federate.com/ was a thing to manually federate communities to the different instances.

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 3 points 3 weeks ago

Fair enough - that makes sense!

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago

I like experiencing the variety in cultures like traveling to other countries like Suriname or Tonga from Canada. It also gives you quicker access to local posts and keeps your different interests separate from your main account.
