Grateful to be here and help this place grow. I’m so over Reddit.

[–] ehxDeez@lemmy.zip 42 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Anddddd this is how and why I found lemmy.

Why I'm here on Lemmy now lol.

[–] PixelPilgrim@lemmings.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So if the content is banned how are people up voting it?

[–] steelrat@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Reddit anti-evil teams (there are several and various AI content implementations) that lets most things cook for 24 hours and then remove it whether it's been previously removed or not. They also include a community health score in new reddit that shows how often mods agreed with their AI and keyword whammies. Reddit CEO says that they want no mods and just AI eventually.

In the dark future of reddit, where there is only bots commenting and getting banned by other bots.

Yeah, that's why I'm here now. That site has just been getting shittier and shittier.

Reddit says the vast majority of users will not be affected Is that because the vast majority of users are bots? 🤔

I got banned from my city’s subreddit for calling out racism and within minutes was then banned 3 other Canadian subreddits.

The Russkies seem to have a stranglehold on our social media platforms

Reddit going full mask-off 1984 huh? Next thing it’ll be illegal to downvote things Reddit likes to push… Or why even bother with the votes anyway, Reddit will just show you only the things that it deems good for you, like the benevolent Big Brother.

Fuck that place.

Also: welcome to all our new members! “We’re Not Perfect, But At Least We’re Not Reddit!” (TM)

Honestly what reddish did/is doing is far far worse than what digg did.

Reddit was lucky no-one else was really around to take away their user base. Lemmy is good, but it's too hard to setup for the average schmoe

One would think that banned content couldn't be voted upon. Sounds like reddit is using any excuse to censor any use other than "sponsored".

[–] socialjusticewizard@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I got suspended because I was banned from a sub years ago on a different account, and I can't block that subreddit. Accidentally commented on r/all, instantly suspended for 'ban evasion'. I didn't make a secret of the alt account, I made it to avoid doxxing. I didn't want to comment on the subreddit, I'd block it from my feed if I could. Reddit knew I was banned and could have just kept me from posting there in the first place. Instead, suspension for evasion. Their whole setup is truly bizarre.

Anyway it dramatically reduced my doomscrolling so it wasn't a bad thing

It's amazing how they tolerated people preaching for violence against women and immigrants for over a decade, but all of sudden their passion for non-violence is so extreme after a rich white guy gets killed.

I've been a Redditor for 13 years. I read the Admin explanation and the Mods reactions and immediately downloaded Lemmy. I'm still gonna lurk just to watch the chaos but fuck that noise with someone else's dick thank you very much.

The people running Reddit are so useless that they can't ban things they don't like fast enough, so they have to punish their userbase for their ineptitude.

[–] Daemedeor@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

I accidentally upvote, so even if I undo it, I think it’s only a matter of time. Plus they didn’t even think about edited posts. It may not start off with affecting a lot of people but may grow that way. It is what is pushing me to lemmy and I hope to join you guys for good convo!

[–] Ymer@feddit.dk 3 points 1 day ago

So how do I go about finding some of these soon-to-be-banned posts? I want my old Reddit account to be part of the statistics 😁

[–] fin@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

wow so many newcomers in this thread. Welcome guys!

[–] Overlordhelpme@reddthat.com 39 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I'm loving this. I had almost 15 years without so much as a warning and then suddenly several 3 day bans, a 7 day ban and a perma ban. They don't want people commenting negatively towards fascism.

🙋🏻‍♂️ +1 on having received a warning. I’m a simple man. I see Luigi, I upvote.

Day 1 on lemmy so am finding my way around still :)

God damn reddit dropped the ball so hard over the years

[–] adm@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Nah not for that. That's how I get banned from Lemmy instances. As cool as federation is without terms of service you can see it's more fragmented as people block instances and people. I doubt Lemmy NSFW would let me make my communites and really, I don't want to deal with it.

I don't want to deal with people being shitty about my tastes in fiction.

Reddit; hear no evil, see no evil, upvote no evil

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Reddit sets the threshold for violent content really low. At one point someone asked if a prisoner who is medically revived from the dead has served their life sentence, I answered that you have to be irrevocably dead, and admins said that promoted or glorified violence. I made no mention of violence whatsoever, nothing I said encouraged violence in any way, and somehow even on appeal they didn’t realize how ridiculous that was.

How about make a flag with 'is banned' that indicates it is banned, and then checking whether 'is banned' exists before allowing a post to be upvoted. You can use this for free Reddit, its a gift.

I love lemmy but it doesn't have my brands of smut. Reddit still does.
