The boycott, which begins during the start of Lent, comes more than a month after Target made changes to its DEI programs and at a difficult period for the company as it faces an onslaught of tariffs in the middle of a challenging economy.

First time I'm hearing of it, and I'm chronically online 😬 not a great sign for the movement

It's funny because a lot of conservatives started boycotting target years ago because the company pandered just slightly left. Now they pandered right and people on the left are mad. It's what that shitty corporation that pays slave wages deserves. The company could fail, and I'm here for it.

lol, target will be fine. Virtually nobody actually participates in these boycotts.

Don't do the silly fad boycotts, just stop shopping at the big problems. No Amazon, no Walmart, no Target, and obviously no Tesla.

40 day? I'm going permanent.

Targets to upperclass for me anyway.

When we boycotting Dollar General?

[–] BakerBagel@midwest.social 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You should have been from the start. Dollar stores are straight up cancer to poor communities.

Hard disagree, but only for specific stuff. Crafts, coloring books, crayons, small toys - kids stuff, basically - all awesome. Don't get food or shampoo or shit like that there.

My wife, usually apolitical as long as I've known her, has boycotted Target her favorite store. We used to go shopping at night when nothing was going on. Now, we save money and just hang out at the house. Fuck Target.

Haven’t gone there in years, but now I’m not gonna go even harder.

Target is red flavor walmart.

I forgot to start shopping at Target. Honestly, what do they carry that every other department store doesn't?

[–] cowfodder@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Oddly the one in my town is a lot cheaper for things like Nature's Bakery bars than any other grocery store around. Still, stopped going there already and won't go back until they fix their shit.

They have a lot of board games (and special versions of popular ones) that are literally exclusively only sold at Target.

Some people might shop there because it’s closer than Walmart. Also I’m not sure what a 40 day “boycott” will do to sales.
