News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

So they are dictating the things we can like now? Lol what a shit site that has become. Such a shame. I love it here though so I guess it all worked out

Migrate your posts to lemmy first (some of the lemmy apps can do this in bulk). Then Edit your old posts and comments, slowly, then delete them slowly. It's your content not Reddits.

By doing this it devalues Reddit in the process as it becomes void of human content only left with AI slop. They certainly dont value the content creators which made Reddit so why should you.

Why edit and delete slowly?

I made the mistake of not doing this. I was so fed up with reddit that I had to get off there ASAP.

When money is speech, speech is not free.

[–] Thteven@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Damn, that's good. Someone tell congress.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 5 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Nobody here can afford to speak to Congress

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago

And yet it is surprisingly cheap to buy a politician.

No it’s ok they need nappies because they’re tired from doing nothing

They couldn't make everyone hate him, so now they're trying to make everyone forget about him.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 13 points 1 day ago

Nobody is forgetting an American hero!

where on reddit can I find lots of Luigi content? I'm interested in having my 7yr old account banned

[–] Scrollone@feddit.it 3 points 20 hours ago

Don't do it. Sell it to spammers so you get some money and Reddit gets some spam!

[–] TheGreatSnacku@lemm.ee 19 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Before getting banned it's probably a good idea to remove or replace all of your posts and comments with something like https://redact.dev/services/reddit

Reddit monetizes the content that users create so remove that content. The admins probably have tools to restore deleted comments and posts but that takes effort and time and if enough time goes by data and backups get lost.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 6 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Tbh I really do think the ship has sailed on that. They’re 100% archiving and off lining (and probably violating the shit out of GDPR) stuff to sell to LLM companies. Not to mention, that data’s already been tokenized and ingested into the systems, and from a computational and logical standpoint, it’s actually a pretty fucking hard problem that people are still trying to figure out how to dis/prove, let alone do reliably and effectively.

Your shit’s been snarfed. So has mine. I don’t mean to be a dick, but we will need to get over it, because there’s no recourse here. Don’t forget, but just account for it and don’t get too bent out of shape over it.

do you know how to download all of my reddit history for personal use? redacting is a good idea, but I want to keep it available to myself in case I need to look up something in there

[–] Fuhgeddaboutit@sopuli.xyz 4 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (1 children)

Look for u/j0be's account on reddit. They have created a way to do that. It's not perfect, it didn't get anything older than 7 years.

Can anyone suggest how to get banned with my dormant reddit account? I wanna post something about Luigi

[–] misteloct@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Go to the Luigi subreddit and upvote everything there if you're really in a hurry.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 4 points 22 hours ago

I think posting is faster

Change all your comments en mass

All the thousands of mine say

"Reddit has become a very large cesspool of poison, supporting genocide (Israel & Russia) and suppressing basic human rights. The admins have gone apeshit banning people for any reason, mentioning "luigi", even in a Nintendo context.

FUCK REDDIT and IT'S ADMINS.

FUCK RACIST, RAPIST, TRUMP

FUCK NAZI ELON MUSK

FUCK BILLIONAIRES/OLIGARCHS, THEY SHOULD ALL BE LUIGI'D.

FUCK EVERYONE ON THE EPSTEIN LIST, DIE IN A FIRE.

FREE PALESTINE, SUPPORT UKRAINE. BE HUMAN.

DELETE or BAN this account, I DON'T GIVE A SHIT. PEOPLE OVER PROFIT."

Just got off a 3 day ban, waiting on permanan

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So you basically got the same "punishment' as someone that is talking about Mario s best buddy. Sounds fair to me /sssss

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

yup. i'm not contributing to reddit anymore. i used to help in some IT and Techsupport threads, vehicle trouble, etc. I'm out

https://old.reddit.com/user/thermal_shock/comments/ ban my shit, i don't care anymore, but i won't help them with whatever their plan is for the site, hope it goes the way of Digg.

Reddit has been hell for a long time. Posts advocating genocide of Arabs get upvoted regularly, and any pushback gets you banned. The fediverse is marginally better.

Anyways welcome to the club. First time?

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 7 points 1 day ago

How is fediverse only marginally better tho?!

Beside lemmy.world regime whore mods.... We don't accept Zionism here!

[–] Aquila@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Do you even get told what you upvoted that was ‘problematic’ or just gotta guess outta the 37 things you upvoted yesterday? Lol

[–] misteloct@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Nope! I got individual comments removed, and subreddit bans so I have a good idea. Anything even vaguely mentioning use of force will do it. One comment said "don't give Republicans an inch", I said "let's give them 9mm" and permaban.

This message was just anything vaguely supporting Luigi Mangione. Examples "innocent until proven guilty".

[–] dzso@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

What? I thought Republicans love their 9mm! They certainly wouldn't let you take their 9mm away!

By this logic is the platform its self not breaking the rules by allowing a forum for the conversation to take place?

Getting band for something like this is like the equivalent of seeing a graffiti artist painting something on a public wall, smiling or nodding in approval, and getting a ticket handed to you around the corner for "participating".

[–] misteloct@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

If they make the rules they can't break them. Just like how our felon president walks completely free.
