I am also hesitant to remove everthing. Maybe someone for example has the same question I once had. If Reddit holds on to their decisions I will probably delete the app though.
Asklemmy
A loosely moderated place to ask open-ended questions
If your post meets the following criteria, it's welcome here!
- Open-ended question
- Not offensive: at this point, we do not have the bandwidth to moderate overtly political discussions. Assume best intent and be excellent to each other.
- Not regarding using or support for Lemmy: context, see the list of support communities and tools for finding communities below
- Not ad nauseam inducing: please make sure it is a question that would be new to most members
- An actual topic of discussion
Looking for support?
Looking for a community?
- Lemmyverse: community search
- sub.rehab: maps old subreddits to fediverse options, marks official as such
- !lemmy411@lemmy.ca: a community for finding communities

Yep. I waited too long on Twitter. Not making the same mistake again.
Yep, I had been teetering, I like the idea of a FOSS public solution. I still fondly remember nntp before it was ruined. It reminds me of Reddit in many ways.
Just deleted RiF in anticipation of the blackout. Ill check it again on the first of next month and if it doesn't exist or work ill be gone for good. Going to suck, mainly need to find a new source for news, possibly on youtube or here, just enough to be up to date.
I'll have no choice but to delete RIF after it shuts down, so I'll probably make the tough decision after that.
It will be a while until I consider Reddit replaced for me. There I subscribe to a ton of subs with only a few thousand people. Even if all of these already existed here, it would take some time to find them.
I was always a lurker on Reddit so I don’t have to worry about purging post or comment history. I literally just haven’t gotten around to deleting it yet. I’ll miss the more local niche communities, but they’ll show up here and in other places in time.
I'm holding out with some copium for now. There's some local subs and niche subs that I'd like to still follow that will likely not migrate. I'll likely switch to RSS and old.reddit only once RIF dies and Lemmy and mastodon will likely be my mobile social media. I don't mind using multiple social media apps, but it'd be great to have it all in one place. > Body

Deleted account history like many others (after a GPDR and manual export of everything). Going to delete my account just before the 30th, as I won't be able to use it anyway. For now I'm still somewhat lurking on Reddit, so to keep my list of subscribed subreddits, I have not deleted my account yet.
I haven’t yet. I’ll probably keep using Reddit until June 30th besides maybe the protest days next week. I’m not sure if I’ll delete my accounts after June 30th or not though in case I need them for a one-off use case in the future.
I will say that it’d be easier to delete my accounts now than a couple years ago. A couple years ago, I was trying to make sure I never lost access to my original Reddit account by changing my password to be more secure, but my password manager failed to save the new password. I got locked out of my original nearly 10 year old Reddit account with a bit of a rare username. The only reason I have access to it now is it’s still logged in through Apollo, but I guess I’ll lose it forever on June 30th. I guess it doesn’t matter if I’m trying to move here anyways.
After the AMA yesterday, I made the decision to delete all of my posts and comments. I'm not sure I see a reason todeletee my account altogether as I think not giving traffic to Reddit is more important, so I left everything else the way it is. Maybe one of these days I'll go back through and delete everything for good.
All that said, like most other people here, I have no intention of going back, especially after yesterday, unless there's some sort of drastic change which is very unlikely.
I yeeted my account today. I've used reddit for ~10 years now. It's sad about some niche communities and inside-jokes, but if people keep using lemmy i'm sure they will find their way here eventually.
Yup. Deleted my 10 year old account yesterday.
Haven’t pulled the plug but edited then deleted all of my comment history, unsaved all of my saves, and got situated with Lemmy (testing Mlem), in preparation. I’ll pull the plug on the 30th. Let me just say the transition so far has been better than expected. It took a bit for the sign up to get approved and the servers to catch up, but I think we will be just fine.
I’m probably gonna keep my account but only use it on desktop with Ad blocker. If they break it with ad blocker I might delete but not sure. It’s hard to delete something I’ve been using for so long but I’ll definitely not use their shitty mobile app
I'm going to leave the account, delete most of the old content and switch to posting links back to fediverse. Likely automated.
Just deleted it, I hope the future for the fediverse goes down right.
A few years ago, I have no regrets. I could browse the site without an account anyway
