Hi everybody.

I'm using Linux Mint.

I checked protondb and almost everyone seemed to be getting the game to work out of the box or with just minor tweaks. But what happens on my end is that a icon for Idtechlauncher pops up in my tray and then nothing happens. I'm suspecting that this launcher is the problem but I haven't been able to find much information on how to fix this or if anyone else has been in the same boat.

I've tried to rename the .exe so that Steam would launch the DOOMEternalx64vk.exe instead but that didn't work. I've also tried a couple versions of proton, including experimental end the newest GE version. I also tried a script to restore the game to an earlier version without some DRM stuff but the script didn't work and hasn't been updated in 3 years.

Anyone here that has had this problem or knows of a solution?

Thank you in advance :)

Someone posted a guide on Steam forums to get it running under linux. You can check it out here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2044037599

For setting up proton GE, I would suggest https://davidotek.github.io/protonup-qt/

It's working out of the box for me via Steam. I would run steam in the terminal and then launch the game to see what pops up in the error logs. It might just be that you don't have proper Vulkan drivers installed or something.

It look like a driver problem? Not sure though. Are other games working fine?

Would be useful to be provided with more information about your PC. :)
