This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.

Move fast and break things! They can always iterate and do another party that doesn’t leave attendees blind!
It's rough now, but in a few years, they'll be able to look back and laugh at the time they threw a party and blinded everyone with UV radiation. Growing pains!
look back
I don’t think they can look back any more after losing their sight
They can look back with their brown eye.
Did they accidentally buy UVC sterilization tubes instead of the relatively harmless UVA party lights?
That has to be it. They got drawn in by the beautiful shade of blue they make and gave everybody the experience of welding for 12 hours using only safety squints and a t-shirt.
And for everyone that doesn't know, UVC radiation is the bad kind of radiation (ionizing).
The Bulbs in this picture sure do look like UC-V lights in my opinion.
At least the venue is nice and germ-free now
Those are absolutely UVC sterilizing lamps. Recreational blacklights put off almost no visible light. These are very clearly UVC emitters. I have both kinds here in the lab. Blacklights for fun. UVC in a sealed box for sterilizing equipment... it is DANGEROUS SHIT.
Seems like
So they basically disinfected their eyes with UV? Ouch.
Yeah, at least it wasn't a COVID superspreader event.
I’ve been to dark places with UV lighting and about 1 in 10 casually dressed people wear something apparently fluorescent so it’s sometimes possible to detect.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
What began as a jovial conference celebrating crypto culture and flashy nonfungible tokens this weekend ended with multiple attendees in a hospital believing they were going blind.
At least three attendees posting about their experiences on Twitter, now called X, claimed to have sought medical attention to treat their mysterious ailment.
Though the exact cause of the eye issues remains unclear, attendees speculated it could have something to do with particularly bright flashing lights emanating from the conference stage.
Symptoms often include pain, redness, headache, sensitivity to bright light, or in extreme cases, temporary vision loss.
Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the event did not immediately respond to Gizmodo’s request for comment.
In that case, victims said they experienced burning sensations, similar to the feeling of having sand stuck in your eyes, following a DJ set markers by bright pink and blue flashing lights.
The original article contains 558 words, the summary contains 150 words. Saved 73%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
I got snow blindness from having no eyewear protecting me at 10,000 feet elevation on Mt Rainier. Being unable to see and having sand in your eyes is exactly how it felt.
Basically, your retinas and corneas get sunburned.
Youch!
Though the exact cause of the eye issues remains unclear
Has no one considered masturbation causing blindness?
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer group of people. ICO for a blind cryptobro token anyone? You get bLoCkChAiN tEcH!
Maybe they were actually vampires?
