“Due to changes in U.S. tariff policies, we will be suspending all orders shipping from China to the United States starting today,” writes Anbernic. “We strongly recommend prioritizing products shipped from our U.S. warehouse, which are currently not affected by import duties and can be purchased with confidence.”

don't worry you guys, someone in the US will buy land, build a factory, and make cheap electronics the american way............................................................................................................................................................................

[–] vividspecter@lemm.ee 6 points 8 hours ago

Prices starting at 2000 USD, even with the legalised child labour that red states are pushing for.

.......in the south with slavery?

Ah.... America...

And blackjack and hookers … oh wait, that’s the south_west_.

calling these "game boy clones" isn't quite right because they don't take physical cartridges, but this is a real shame. companies like them and Miyoo and Retroid have been carving out a nice niche of gaming devices between a fully locked down console and a Whole Ass Personal Computer but this tariff situation is gonna kill them in their tracks stateside

The crazy part is none of this was necessary.... sucks to be an American right now, things are going to get so expensive they will get crushed.

I was wanting to wait a while longer on the Retroid Pocket 5 for financial reasons, but the tariffs spooked me that something like this might happen or the price would go way up so I ended up buying one a couple days ago just in case

That’s a rough place to be in. I hope it didn’t break the bank!

[–] QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works 4 points 12 hours ago

No it didn’t, or I would have held off regardless I just wanted to wait for my tax refund to be a bit cozier, but I had the money… just didn’t want to end up spending a lot more lol

Well... Can't get one of those now. :(

[–] veeesix@lemmy.ca 13 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

You could always try getting one shipped from a US warehouse or from Amazon.

I feel bad for Americans that may soon be willing to pay for Anbernic devices at Retroid prices.

Yea, glad I bought my RG406 last year before the terroriffs.

It’s recommended in the article as a third-party option, and I can still see some in the US store.

[–] technomad@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 hours ago

Oh I know they have them, I'm just saying don't shop there.

[–] mesamunefire@lemmy.world 12 points 14 hours ago

Yep and miyoo and some others are thinking of doing the same.

[–] BitsAndBites@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago

Damn, I ordered one last week and the tracking shows it cleared customs 2 days ago.
