This is a USA thing where, due to cost, people must self medicate

Well, Gen Z here in the states probably can't afford to go see doctors.

Boomers: At my annual checkup, my doctor said....

Gen Z: Chat, am I cooked?

[โ€“] standarduser@lemm.ee 3 points 23 hours ago

Cheaper to say that on TikTok than to get a basic checkup for most people. Unfortunate and true.

And the increasing likelihood of your medical data being weaponized against you if you can.

my first thought. Heck even with insurance its hard to get an appointment where you can talk with the doctor much.

The younger you are, the less likely it is that you are facing a serious medical issue. It's a lot easier to ignore your doctor when discussing long term health in an abstract way, rather than discussing how to avoid making an existing problem worse.

Also, I suspect there is at least some survivorship bias here. If following medical advice improves long term survival, one would expect to see more medical advice followers in the older population. You can't poll dead people.

Adults under age 35

What the fuck, those are Gen Z? I thought they were millennial. The terms really don't mean anything anymore.

[โ€“] ratel@mander.xyz 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

There are little to no millennials left who are still in their 20s as the end birth year is supposed to be around 1995/1996, so I think under 35 is a bit high but under 30 for sure.

I am 29, and I don't know how to self-identify. I hate both Millenials and Gen Z, just for different reasons.

Early Gen Z would be the most rational I guess.

Edit: Zillenial it is

You could use that to your advantage and identify with one or the other depending on the situation :D IMHO this generation taxonomy just promotes "us vs them" mentality which is mostly used negatively and divides people.
