Is there anything that can be done? Or is this account doomed to be a shell of what once was?

I wasn't even able to post this from my account, had to use an alt.

I did just that a while ago. Seeing on my server what you've been seeing in yours I've just turned it off for a day or so, and when I turned it on just to be sure that I have to scrap it and start again, it started working just fine. So, I'd say, let it be, let it rest, come back to it later. Or I dunno, maybe it was just a fluke.

It seems to be self correcting thank you!

edit: wanted to edit and give more context for future searches. Nutomic gave insight here (https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/1986#issuecomment-1671036006)

Lemmy refetches users and their public keys every 24 hours, so after that time the federation will work fine.

Use a different domain. Otherwise you might have to mess with the db.

Looks like it is self-correcting and resolves within 24 hours.

I had the same situation, ended up just changing the subdomain and starting fresh There might be something you can do but I'm not smart enough to find it
