It could be really handy, sometimes I click a video post by mistake (easy to do by mistake, I liked colored triangles in the thumbnail corner like relay did on Reddit) and (with current YouTube) can't exit it fast enough, sound goes blasting when I don't want it to (because back gesture won't exit the video but minimize it to show me the rest of YouTube's glory)

That's why I keep this setting on: Settings shortcut: Media > Mute when opening

It's not the best solution, but I really hate when I don't notice I'm tapping on a video. Even when I keep the post-type displayed: Settings shortcut: View type > Type indicators

Edited to add: It's a bandaid at best until it does get implemented.

Thanks for reply, it won't mute YouTube though, right? Also I have type indicators enabled but it's not that visible

Aw, snap, I thought it did. My bad. I probably just have gotten really quick at hitting the back button.

That is true, in my experience as well. I wonder if it's that hard to tell in all the view styles... Sorry man, like I said - bandaid at best, but maybe not even that useful..

If you use NewPipe, you can turn off autoplay in it's settings so that if you accidentally click on a YouTube link, it'll launch the video in NewPipe but won't start playing it automatically.
