Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

They know they're gone so trying to (1) extract as much money as they can now and (2) fuck up the country as much as possible so labour have a harder job in the hope they can get elected quicker.

No aims to improve the country as a whole, or the people within it in any shape or form. They should be kicked out of the country and sent to Jersey or cayman Islands.

The final goals of Brexit is now being acted apone. If the UK was still part of the EU workers would just go work in another country rather than put up with their dwindling support at home. Now the UK blue collar workers are trapped

It's worse than that. They know that these people can't work. They intend for them to starve.

Yo, britonians, shits on fire. You should do something about your PM. How is it you eat every punch the tories are launching. You should maybe take back your sovereignty. But this time actually for real.

We're doing a fair job giving Trump a run for his money. At least the Americans haven't fucking re-elected him yet, like we repeatedly have with these miserable bastards

"worth" billions. How many people will die because of this? And how will they channel this money to the billionaires?

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The proposals follow the announcement in March that the government wants to scrap the controversial Work Capability Assessment, which is used to determine if people can receive additional benefits payments due to a health condition.

If the proposals are enacted, people who, for instance, are in severe pain while awaiting an operation or have some mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, may not receive the additional payment but would be expected to look for work.

Speaking in the Commons in September, Mr Stride said more than 2.5 million people were on benefits and inactive due to a long-term health condition.

They want a package of intensive support for those people who'll have to look for work as they fear many of them simply won't be able to find a job, resulting in financial and psychological distress.

The plans foresee the health element of universal credit being more closely aligned with the main disability benefit, Personal Independence Payment.

Figures released by the DWP in July showed that in November 2022, 516,000 people who were in receipt of a sickness benefit did not quality for PIP, 29% of all recipients.

“Quick, we need a distraction to bury this news!”

“How about a cabinet reshuffle?”

“Probably not juicy enough.”

“Er, maybe bring bring pig-fucker Hameron back, make him a cabinet minister?”

“Yup, that should occupy the news cycle for a few days.”
