It made the gameplay fun and the story interesting and remotely unique?

performance

Ah.

Does it fix the writing, quests, and 2001 NPC animations?

Cool, maybe I'll pick it up in a year or three when it's like $5 for the GOTY edition. I heard it's a pretty bland game though, so maybe not.

I genuinely enjoyed my first playthrough.

After that I didn't find the point in continuing, since I did everything possible. I tried, got sad and stopped.

It's still a good time, just not for a long time.

They made a huge universe and then filled it all with copies of a very small subset of items. It feels like Fallout/Skyrim/etc had a lot more unique content on launch even though the 'world' of starfield is technically a lot larger and that makes it feel even emptier.

It seems like instead of making 1000 procedurally generated planets, they should have made maybe 10 handcrafted planets you could traverse and find things tucked away to do.

Yeah, but would have required effort and like, taken a while. They had their poor shareholders to think of.

Maybe by the time I get around to playing it, there'll be enough mods and updates that it becomes sustained fun.
