You know when Britain did this shit to China there were two wars, an uprising, and eventually Mao Zedong undoing the entire fucking Chinese government and executing every last dealer. That's not to say that's the proper outcome but the US population is way behind on the level of outrage they should be having with the Sackler family.

People should really read the Afghanistan Papers. It makes the picture much clearer on why this epidemic is so ... muted.

@IHeartBadCode

It's really the thing that drives a lot of wars. It's a worldwide problem, not just an American one. The subhuman assholes are just the shiny enriched face of it in America.

Nah, we don't actually want to harm the rich

The justices agreed to a request from the Biden administration to put the brakes on an agreement reached last year with state and local governments.

Just an interesting little tidbit I thought I'd point out, since I'm skeptical a Trump administration would have done this.

Vote people.

The court didn't make a verdict, they agreed to hear the case. The lower court sided with letting the opiote company getting away.

This is a really important point people seem to be missing. SCOTUS has only temporarily blocked the deal until they hear arguments in the case. Given what we now know about some of the justices, I wouldn't hold my breath that rich people will be held accountable.

Good. Three years ago I had to give CPR to a 64 year old homeless guy, an ex-cop who was one of the sweetest and most interesting people I'd ever met, after he smoked a hit of what he thought was oxy, collapsed, and turned blue.

It was fent.

Luckily there was Narcan available, carried by the street kids he hung out with and took care of, and we got him breathing just as the paramedics arrived.

That entire little tribe (about 15 folks) was hooked on oxy, and most had started with a prescription. The Sacklers are responsible for all it - they should be in jail with all the other cartel members.

@Arotrios

Jail isn't good enough for them. They are pushers and murderers on an unbelievable scale. They should face the same penalties as any other junk pusher who has been caught.

We aren't talking about Little Joey down on the corner selling dime bags of kind bud; we're talking about a family who got together and gamed the system, lied through their teeth, and created more fucking junkies than the Vietnam war.

Firing squad or Gas Chamber is where I'm at.

If you have a 8h+ flight, you can easy watch all the episodes of the Show Dopesick (Trailer):

Dopesick is an American drama miniseries, created by Danny Strong for Hulu. Based on the non-fiction book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America by Beth Macy, it premiered on October 13, 2021, and concluded on November 17, 2021, after eight episodes.[1][2]

What a Sicko Richard Sackler is. A real Psychopath.

[–] ArugulaZ@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Sounds like they got punched right in the Sackler.

As much as I like this news (and I do, very much) it sounds a little bit like "corruption for me but not for thee."
