A television network cynically exploits a deranged former anchor's ravings and revelations about the news media for its own profit, but finds that his message may be difficult to control.

I'M MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!

And what did they achieve by channeling that catharsis via their "prophet" Howard Beale? Nothing. Just another zombified audience yelling a catchphrase in a Gong Show-style polished infotainment delivery mechanism, but unlike the Gong Show, with zero laughs.

Extraordinary movie, one of the best screenplays ever written and a certifiable 10/10.
