As a older millennial, I'm watching America continue to be overtaken in so many areas since 2000s.

There's so many countries doing things better and I can't even explain it to people.

Its like this idea that in order for America to be the best we have to stubbornly double down and reject what seems to work for others.

America is the best at the Imperial system.

Idk, I haven't seen how well Myanmar or Liberia use it

Empathetic yet politically exhausted Canadian reporting in.

I feel just awful for those losing their healthcare over there. But I’ll be grateful for the influx of doctors and specialists that trickle in as the smaller hospitals are projected to close.

Come to Canada. The slightly different culture won't shock you, you probably already speak the language, and the people in general are 43-59% hotter than Americans.

I've wanted to move to Canada ever since I was a kid. Problem is that I've never been able to afford living in my own country let alone moving to another. And these days I feel like presence isn't really welcome there anymore anyway.

But I don't know Canadianese & why are they so much warmer, when people in Canada live in igloos? /s

[–] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

We are warm living in igloos because we just have sex all the time. Keeps the temperature up.

Apply for jobs in Canada. If hired many companies will help you get a work permit. Once in country, start the process for permanent residence.

Permanent residence basically gives you all Canadian rights and protections except to vote. Once you have PR, it's a pretty simple step to get citizenship.

From what I read, tho, the housing price/income ratio is way worse than most places in the US, in large parts due to NIMBYs fighting any new development, driving housing prices through the roof...

Pay a bit more for your home vs a chance Trump's Ice Boys blackbagging you and waking up in a cruelty centre?

Dunno? That's a pretty tough call.

The USA is dying. If you can get out, get out.

We're not talking about a few percentage points, we're talking about halving one's salary in the tech sector for higher absolute home prices in many instances...

You guys should absolutely leave, that's not the question, but either Canada needs to get its shit together, either y'all need to pick another destination.

Trump is taking away every exciting thing about the US.

He’s gonna try to ruin Loma Linda next.

The coolest thing about USA is Native Americans and African Americans. If they make it through this, that will be worth celebrating.

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 month ago

They are losing a whole lot more talent in all areas.

Leopards meeting faces anyone??

More than one generation no? One will flee to work in Europe, the next will be too stupid because of education cuts
