Of all the Americans MTG is one and I couldn’t wait to read her book. Unfortunately it arrived upside down so I had to return it. 1 star.

That article is virtually unreadable. What a trash website.

It's, like, a few words and then some ex-twitter links. And then a few more words and some screenshots of the Amazon reviews before going back to the ex-twitter links. Dumb.

For me, the twitter stuff doesn't even load. It's literally unreadable.

I feel like that’s par for the course for a large number of news articles now, especially the “Y is outraged at Z because of —“ articles where it shows like 3 tweets from people who are, at best, mildly annoyed by the thing.

George Takei constantly shills for that site in his mastodon feed. I unfollowed him because of it.

[–] dirtypirate@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago

I unsubbed because the man talks a lot... @pluarlistic and @breadandcircuses now flood my feed

mastodon is neat, I've not figured out how to use my masto-id on lemmy but what ever.

And Amazon has now restricted the reviews. Boo

Weird for Magic The Gathering. I have questions.

Are we talking the coastal wizards are being trolled or the players?

From the Amazon description

Known for her humor and honesty,

lol, wut? when?

[–] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 11 points 11 months ago

That's when people say that they are funny and have a dark sense of humor, only to find out they mean racist.

All this time she thought we were laughing with her.

[–] NateNate60@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The humour is obvious. Just listen to her daily ramblings and speeches and you'll be rolling on the floor. The latter is an example of the former.

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 3 points 11 months ago

It’s not surprising that she confuses “laughed at me” with appreciating something.

[–] Alivrah@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Technology has come so far you can even publish books in different timelines!

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 2 points 11 months ago

This is the most likely explanation.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 11 months ago

You know what, guys? Marge would be quite upset about the negative reviews, if she could read.

[–] nnullzz@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

She couldn’t even bother to make sure her name and title was centered on the books cover.

[–] bobzilla@lemmy.world 0 points 11 months ago

Worse yet, it's leaning left, and we all know that's inaccurate.

[–] be_excellent_to_each_other@kbin.social 9 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Do even the magas want to read a book from mtg? I'm finding that doubtful.

[–] drislands@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

This kind of book is typically money laundering more than anything else. PACs can't just give money right to a candidate, but they can buy thousands of copies of their book to give away at events. Boom, money right into your guy's pockets.

[–] OurTragicUniverse@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

Can magas read?

[–] Illuminostro@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Do they even read?

[–] Illuminostro@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

The majority of the copies are bought by some Republican super PAC, standard GOP procedure.

Whenever I hear of MTG I think of the Japanese firm and I'm really confused why the business has been assigned a gender -_-

I think of Magic the Gathering and also get confused.

Amazon deleted the other reviews.

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Crazy that for some reason those 4 were left up.

[–] Artyom@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Amazon probably only left up verified purchases.

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 3 points 11 months ago

Hard to say. None of them specifically say verified purchase (at least I think they normally say that), and this is one that’s still up:

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 7 points 11 months ago

You may notice the article itself shows at least six different ones, so reviews are getting removed.

[–] itsonlygeorge@reddthat.com 3 points 11 months ago

Is it written in crayon?

[–] library_napper@monyet.cc -2 points 11 months ago

Doesn't that mean they bought her book? So....she's laughing all the way to the bank?
