Didn't expect the really colorful vibes

Excited for this arc to be animated. Really enjoyed reading it over the last year.
The music video trailer they released for this arc was pretty nice too. https://youtu.be/-Sb4wxbHh-4?si=csY7VZhMHzoeIKnK
I really don't get this anime. Are they in the future now? Are they in space? Is he the king of pirates now? Did they get the treasure? I'm not saying it's bad or anything, I'm just terribly out of the loop and I guess it's too late trying to catch up.
this is an island controlled by the smartest person in the world. they have 3/4 pieces of the map needed to get to the final island with the treasure. its never too late to catch up
They’re not the only ones with significant portions of the map either, a few big names are fully in the running. I’m just finishing the wano arc trying to catch up after taking a break for a few hundred episodes
No harm in starting now.
I showed this image to my friend who knows zero about anime and asked him what he thought these guys did as a profession. Even after pointing out the skull and crossbones he refused to belive that they are pirates. Maybe I should introduce him to the Netflix series first...
I recently started the anime (just finished the Kuro arc) and I'm wondering if the animation gets "better" in later seasons?
Don't get me wrong, I still love it, but some scenes feel very dated and low budget, having lots of still images.
Yeah it gets better don't worry.
