My partner recommended I subscribe to https://feddit.cl/c/pudu !pudu@feddit.cl and I really want to, but I can't figure out how. I need to get to the "view this community on another instance" view, but I don't know how to get there without finding a post federated to my instance already. I know search across instances is difficult, but what about direct linking?

Update: I used the link in this post to get the community loaded in liftoff, but is there a way without making a post?

In my app I can use your link the click the menu and subscribe, liftoff must have something similar

You can usually search for them directly "pudu@feddit.nl", generate a universal link by posting "!pudu@feddit.nl", or visiting the URL manually from your home instance at "https://lemmy.world/c/pudu@feddit.nl" or "https://lemdro.id/c/pudu@feddit.nl" for me.

Surely the first method will only work if the instance you are on is already aware of, because it’s already federated.

The way Liftoff searches seems to be different to other apps.
