I'm scheduled for a half marathon in 5 weeks. I KNEW I probably should not have deadlifted before my sprint workout. I didn't wake up this morning to run like I should have, so I lifted weights before my running workout. During my sprints, I felt and heard a pop. I immediately felt pain and hobbles to a stop. Fortunately I was in front of my house. I couldn't bend over to untie my shoes and get them off. Luckily my wife was home.

I know this isn't a medical forum and I'm not seeking medical advice, I'm already in contact with my doctor, but I'd like some opinions and feedback (or questions) from others that have experienced the same. Chances of running in 5 weeks? ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข If it was completely torn, I was feel and see a ball of muscle rolled up right?

Aye, You have resurfaced a memory from 2019, my left gastroc popped while I was embarking on a run and I literally couldn't make it home, I had to call a friend who angrily came and picked me up. I couldn't walk for weeks. Even a month or two later I remember things felt like they were pretty back to normal and I carelessly jumped out of the car and reinjured my calf upon impact with the ground. Those were a rough few months. grateful I'm 100% healed now that's a distant memory.

RICE Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation,

Oh I always forget the difference between a strain and a sprain and you say your hamstring is torn so I don't know yeah look forward to seeing your doctor.

Not medical advice, but maybe see about deferring your registration to next year (or depending on the race organizer, maybe even another race this year). I know it sucks but take care of yourself first.

Thanks. I wouldn't want to, even if I could. I fundraised for a very special organization that benefits kids like mine with critical and terminal illnesses and my bib was going to have a pic of my kid on it. ๐Ÿ˜ข Big bummer.
