Fwiw there are some pretty solid portable Bluetooth dacs so you don't have to have your phone port plugged all the time.

Daily until I had to get a new phone that didn't have one.

After that I got an adapter so I could continue using the various 3.5mm headphones thar I already own

I was forced to buy wireless headphones because phones stopped using the 3.5mm jack. I still have a pair of wired earbuds but they're useless now as I only have 3.5mm on my work laptop.

The positive is my new wireless headphones are awesome and work very well, but they're over the ear so I can't use them for snowboarding like I could with my wired earbuds. They charge ultra fast and last up to 30 hours and they come with a 3.5mm jack if the battery dies. You don't get noise cancelling when using the 3.5mm jack but at least it works.

So I typically have two sets of headphones, really nice ones that I use for long travel & low key ones I use daily.

At the time my really nice ones didn't have Bluetooth, but I knew future versions did, so I assumed that problem would solve itself.

For the daily I tried a set a Bluetooth and found them to be mostly ok, but had frequent disconnects and eventually I just got tired of remembering to charge them.

A few years later I figured the technology would have improved, but my problems remained the same. I then accidentally ran one of my buds through the wash and that made things worse. It wasn't the first time I'd run headphones through the wash, but what was previously a $10s of dollars mistake, was now a $100s of dollars mistake.

I now use wired headphones daily and exclusively.

For my really nice ones I don't have to remember to charge them. I just plug them in.

Also, when traveling on buses and airplanes, they sometimes provide onride entertainment. It's not clear to me how wireless only folks utilize that. Sure I downloaded things before I leave, but it's nice sometimes to just plug in.

I dont have a headphone jack but I have a dongle to use some sound isolating earbuds while I ride my motorcycle my last trip was about 6ish hours and I dont think there are many wireless earbuds that would last that long

The earbuds were like $20 and have an actual nrr my $90 airpods sound way more tinny in addition to not fitting as well and leaking sound

I basically stopped using wired headphones when Work From Home became a thing. I kept getting up from my desk and wanting to keep my audio going while wandering around and having wireless is perfect for my small house. I would definitely want to go back to wired if I was commuting or out in public daily though.

Someone needs to invent a headphone cord that directly connects to the USB C port. Is that a thing?

I bought a phone but the jack was busted and doesn't have two bits connected in DAC. It sounds horrendous. Compressor kind of helps. I use it once per 3 months. Usually when my headphones are on low battery and I forgot to charge them.

On my next phone I will propably get an externall DAC.

P.S Playing patapon over the bluetooth is impossible. The delay is too big. Over the wire there wasn't any problem.

I use it every day on my way to work and most nights before bed.

I use it every single day. My phone just died, I have a temporary phone with Jack,, but I know my next one won't have one and I'm afraid of that change.

I've tried using an adapter and the quality sucks.

I had to buy an adapter. I much prefer wired earphones, as somebody else commented, it's much easier to switch wired ones between devices. With wireless you also have the issue of disconnecting them if you want audio through the phone speaker. I hate Bluetooth anyway.

I also prefer the earphones which sit just in the ear, rather than the current style of ones that need to be forced inside. I don't think you can get wireless earphones like that, probably because they would be lost easily. I like proper headphones too (so that's an option for wireless), but they are quite bulky so not always convenient.

My wife does daily to plug into our car. When she recently got a phone without a jack, I bought her a dongle for charging and audio.

Does she use wired audio daily? Yes. Does her phone have a headphone jack? Well, no.

I used to use mine pretty regularly for some wired IEM's and sometimes connecting it to my PC.

But a couple months ago, I put my phone in a bag of silica gel balls to absorb some water after it got wet.

Cannot recommend this to anyone else though... because those balls actually have roughly the same diameter as the headphone jack and one got completely stuck inside, making the port unusable. :(

I use it, I have some very nice ear monitors from an old job. I also hate throwaway crap. If I have to I can solder a new cable on. Wireless headphones are extremely difficult to fix.

Until I got a phone without one, I used it all the time. But now I have fully switched to Bluetooth. The price pot me off a lot, but my tozo A3s are are both cheap enough and good enough that I am happy to have made the switch.

If I had one, I would use it for somewhere between 2:00 to 8 hours per week. Considering getting the next ZenFone largely because it has one.

The only thing I miss it for is plugging into the car. I've got Bluetooth adapters now though that work pretty well. In theory I might run into a situation where it would be nice to be able to plug into a speaker or someone else's car or something, but BT is so common it doesn't really come up.
