I stopped using wired headphones before I had a device without a headphone jack.

I found the cord infuriating, always seemed to get caught or tangled on things, always making sensitive skin contact (like just beneath my jawline) where I was forever readjusting it and sometimes the cords lifted the headphone out of my ear.

Conversely, I’ve had three pairs of wireless headphones. First pair didn’t like getting christened in the washing machine, second pair is still going strong and third pair are AirPod Pros I bought before a flight for the noise cancellation which are also going strong. Maybe I’ve outsmarted the whole of Apple’s engineering/marketing department but I’ve never felt like the sets I’ve had are underperforming on battery life and have no reason to buy sets to replace the working ones I have. The small conveniences, like not being tethered to my phone and freedom from cords, have absolutely made the change to wireless worth it to me.

The biggest and most obvious downside against wireless headphones is compatibility and price.

I use it daily, to connect my phone to my car AUX input and my various (very expensive) headphones.

I’ve never liked or wanted a wire connecting me to my phone. It’s irritating and is a hugely negative stim for me, akin to nails on a chalkboard.

Never. Bluetooth headphones and connectivity in the car.

When my phone lost the headphone jack, I just stopped listening to music outside of my home.

I honestly prefer walks now.

I had to buy a converter to stick my headphones into to connect to my phone because it didn't have the jack. Which is really annoying because I have really nice headphones and I don't want to sacrifice my sound quality for shitty Bluetooth ones.

I never use my headphone jack. I don't care if my next phone has one. Having wires attached to my phone is enormously inconvenient to me. Plus I have a thing where I need to be able to hear what's going on around me, so I bought some Bose sunglasses and put prescription lenses in them. I love them. They definitely sacrifice on the bass, but I can wear them at work and still hear if someone knocks on my door or starts talking to me. They last about 5 or 6 hours and charge pretty quickly. I hardly ever have to charge them more than once per night.

Rarely, but I like knowing it's there if my headphones run out of battery and I need to join a meeting or make a call.

Never, Bluetooth adapter in the car, AirPods otherwise. FUCK cords

When I get a call at home while already wearing my wired headset I like to just plug it into the phone.

Since my current phone was bought used I had to compromise on some things, so I don't have a headphone jack anymore. I use a USB-C Adapter now. I use it for most phone calls, especially the longer ones with family. So probably for a few hours per month.

For quite a long time, until about 2021, I was still using wired headphones when on the go, but nowadays I'm addicted to noise cancelling, so that use case has moved to Bluetooth now. My protective headsets from work (both the over-ear and the in-ear set) also use Bluetooth.

Daily, I drive an 01 cherokee sport base model. This means I have a tape deck and fuck all else.

I use Bluetooth headphones every day, for most of the day. Despite that, there are times where i forget to charge them the night before, or something else goes wrong, and I use wired headphones.

If I got a phone without a headphone jack, I don't think it'd be much of a problem, until it is. I'd need it, and suddenly realized I don't have it.

At least once a week. Will be a shame when I eventually move onto a phone without a jack.

I’ve been using bluetooth earbuds for several years now. You can walk around freely when connected to your PC, the wires don’t get tangled and noise canceling is great. But one upside of wired earbuds is that you’re not exposed to bluetooth zero days such as the one that recently came to light.

I stopped using it because my cables got always damaged after a few weeks/months of usage. With a (big) phone in my pocket it's just not possible for me to put no stress on the jack.

I actually stopped listening music on the road for a few years after that until I started using Bluetooth headphones/in ears. Now I wouldn't go back to cable even if it didn't break down so fast.

I'm a bit clumsy (ADHD) and having a cable attached to my body attached to a €1000 device is asking for trouble. I hate the cable getting tangled up, caught on things etc.

Quite frequently for sure. I'm a musician in a band, a DJ, and working on becoming more of a producer. Plugging in for amplifying or sampling happens fairly often. Being an audiophile, I'm also partial to wired connections over Bluetooth which can be more unreliable in performance settings. Never wanted to mess with battery powered phones too. Already have charger fatigue pretty bad.

A few years ago I would have said every day, but I got a really good pair of Bluetooth Bose headphones that have wireless charging so I don't have to worry about anything anymore. After work they get put on a charging pad then in the morning I grab them and they're ready to go.

I use it to collect sand and little stones in my device.
But also to have a backup if my bluetooth in-ears get low on battery or i need to plug the phone to my old school amplifier.

Nowadays only in my car. It doesn't have a bluetooth receiver.

It's hard to find a wired earphones with ANC. About a decade earlier I used wired a Audio Technica earphones with ANC.
