Choking on pussy?
Although I feel like The Far Side has always leaned more into pure absurdity rather than play at subtle innuendos. Does anyone know of other possible examples of the latter?
are other people in the comments here interpreting this as a sexual pun, "choking on pussy?" I don't think that's how Gary Larson intended it.
Because first of all, cunnilingus has nothing to do with putting that anatomical part down one's throat. It's impossible. You can put a penis down your throat but you don't put pussy down your throat.
And second of all, Gary Larson's humor is rarely (if ever?) sexually crass.
That's just what I supposed the parent comment was referring to by missing an apparent joke as a kid.
Thus my uncertain question mark. I suppose the OP could clarify their personal revelation.
I agree in doubting that Gary had any intention for such an interpretation, simply depicting classic absurdity instead.
However, anatomical and impossibilities aside, you can't say that sexual slang is well known for it's grounded realism.
Eating or choking on pussy isn't exactly an uncommon euphemism, especially those who love to boast about their face-sitting escapades.
He was choking on a cat? He had a cat down his throat?
Could be based on the expression “Cat got your tongue?” (Except he swallowed the cat after)

Hello fellow Far Side fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips and one of those was The Far Side. These days of course you find just about anything online including www.thefarside.com where they post several comics a day and I repost them here. Just to note, the date you see in my posts is not the initial release date, but the date they were posted on the website.
The Far Side is a single-panel comic created by Gary Larson and syndicated by Chronicle Features and then Universal Press Syndicate, which ran from December 31, 1979, to January 1, 1995 (when Larson retired as a cartoonist).
