Free agent C Mason Plumlee has agreed on a one-year, $5 million deal to return to the LA Clippers, agent Mark Bartelstein of @Prioritysports tells ESPN. Plumlee landed with Clippers at deadline and decides to stay with LA despite bigger financial offers elsewhere.

I'm a bit surprised he couldn't get multiple years anywhere, right?

I'm surprised as well. I think it boils down to not many other teams with that much larger offers, so it sounded like fit was more important for him. Either way, I feel like that's a great deal for the Clips.

That may be it (fit > money) but he's 33 so not a lot of years/contracts ahead which makes it even stranger. Why not try to nail down your last (or one before last) contract to a longer duration? enough for him to get hurt/underperform this year and I'm not sure he has a place in the league next year...
