I wouldn't be surprised if Lewy.world saw how much storage is needed and bailed on the project... from a brief browse of lemmynsfw it seems like those admins run into a storage wall pretty often.
Another possibility is maybe the 🚓👮♂️ or the domain provider got involved, instructing Lewy.world to pull the plug

They shouldn’t have had storage issues, they were never going to host images or communities. They simply were an instance that only federated with nsfw instances so all could be only porn.
