As someone who has worked the industry, this is so they can sell the information not so they can actually do anything to increase their security and prevent attacks.

ah so that priority email i got from bell who got it from CCCS about my personal gitlab server being vulnerable was extraordinary,

BTW if you haven't got it update it it scored a 10 on the CVSS https://www.cyber.gc.ca/en/alerts-advisories/vulnerability-impacting-gitlab-cve-2023-7028
