Basically the general start up.

  • Usenet provider
  • Usenet Client/Newsreader
  • NZB Indexer

Providers give you access to the servers. (Ex. NewsHosting, Eweka, Easynews)

Client/Newsreader allows you to browse/download content. Some providers offer their own newsreaders. (Ex. SABnzb)

Indexers allow you to search for content.

Cool! Do you have any recommendation for those services?

I will say I don’t have a lot of experience with different providers.

The Reddit Usenet community has a good write up that goes into more detail with different options, recommendations, and deals which is worth checking out.

One thing to keep in mind if you aren’t aware is one of the key differences between Usenet and Torrents, is that Usenet in general is not free. The providers will have different pricing and bandwidth tiers. Some have free trials.

I am currently using the provider Newshosting and SABnzb which is an open source client.

Indexers are similar to torrent trackers. The “better” ones don’t have open registrations. However I believe nzbfinder has open registrations and has a free tier memebership. If you wanted to browse before you pay for a provider.
