🌿 Fougère Friday - Fern🪻

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound Fougère 26mm v16 Fanchurian
  • Razor: Blutt Rasur BR-1 0.99
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [13]
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Reserve Fern - Soap (Omnibus)
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Fougère Classique - Aftershave

Amazingly smooth shave with the Blutt. It's been a while since I've used it, but it was a joy to come back to.

Happy Friday!

Rating: 5/5

Getting to revisit blutts is always a treat.

Blutt++;

I'll be hauling mine out over the weekend.

January 26, 2024

  • Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
  • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
  • Lather: Central Texas Soaps - Cherry Pipe - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Weinstrasse - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth/Declaration Grooming - Cerberus - Liniment

Weinstrasse aftershave has given me frag and/or menthol burn in the past. I used to have the soap and had no problem with it. In general I like to water down CL aftershaves/toners, so I did that today and it seemed to make the frag/menthol burn go away. For now I'll keep it, since I love the scent. I'm willing to alter my application technique if it means I get to keep using it.

I like the Central Texas soap base. It's a tad on the poofy side, but turns really nice when you add a bunch of water to it.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

A great shave today and I'm posting very late. Again, I almost forgot.

Now that I know that Desert Vetiver has a grapefruit note, I can find it pretty readily, and with my penchant for renaming fragrances, I'm tempted to start calling this Dessert Vetiver. Awesome, well crafted, scent!

What do I win??

Nothing, but I'm so proud of you.

Can't we do badges or trophies on Lemmy?

[–] spj_hook@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 9 months ago

A badger badge?

[–] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 9 months ago

🏆

Lemmy doesn't have user flair (yet?), unfortunately.

[–] spj_hook@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 9 months ago

Thanks man, I couldn’t have done it without you!

[–] PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You win the exclusive right to use the badger emoji 🦡 in your SOTDs, and I will downvote anybody trying to break your monopoly.

[–] spj_hook@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Sweet, I love badgers! The animal, not the brush, I actually only use synthetics.

[–] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Synthetic++
I have about 5 synths, 5 badgers, and 5 boars. My synthetics get used the most by far.

I used to have a couple horse hairs, but I could never get them to work well for me.

Bay Rum Pum Pum Pum 🎶

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Papa Eld with Declaration Grooming B3 knot
  • Razor: Dovo Bismarck 2 (7/8", full hollow, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann Bay Rum
  • Aftershave: Barrister and Mann Bay Rum
  • Fragrance: Stirling Soap Co Bay Rum
  • Talc: Pinaud Clubman Finest Powder

Oops, super busy day and I almost missed my SOTD post. This tub of soap was on my 2021 kill list. It's mostly full. Ugh.

Fun little thing I saw now looking at the SOTD pic: The bevel is mirror polished (duh, but:) and in this picture it becomes very visible because the word RUM of the balm label is reflected on it. Neat!

Angle of incidence equals angle of reflection :)
