Conservatives are into controlling people and mostly controlling women. If anything is surprising, it is that there are any women conservatives at all. This is also very similar to religions that treat women poorly. Why are any woman part of those religions?

Fear? Indoctrination, social pressures?

Subjectification. People normalise what's normal for them.

Went nuts dating these last 5 years, went out a lot. Even in this very conservative area, women will quickly want to know if you're a Trump supporter. Or, they refuse to say a word about politics for fear a man is MAGA.

And it's not always because of their personal politics! They've tried to be openminded, but conservative guys tend to be assholes. These women have been argued with, screamed at and abused, sometimes physically.

I have no idea how you get a decent dating pool if you don't hide your conservatism. Worked out for me though!

Well South Korea looks like a barrel of laughs if you're in a relationship...

[-] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

That's a gender gap I can get behind!

[-] OlPatchy2Eyes@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

You're excited about this? Like it's a competition you want women to win?

[-] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 months ago

I'm joking. However if it's a competition, I'd definitely root for women to win this one.

[-] Bonehead@kbin.social 6 points 5 months ago

OK, so what was going on in the world around 2010 that caused such a sharp rise in women becoming more liberal?

[-] Nollij@sopuli.xyz 27 points 5 months ago

FTA:

The #MeToo movement was the key trigger, giving rise to fiercely feminist values among young women who felt empowered to speak out against long-running injustices. That spark found especially dry tinder in South Korea, where gender inequality remains stark, and outright misogyny is common.

[-] Jeknilah@monero.town 6 points 5 months ago

Yeah, it also doesn't help that in SK, men are conscripted to the military for years and enter the workforce with somewhat of a disadvantage.

"Misogyny" is half the story.

Your question is answered in the fucking article. Read.

[-] Bonehead@kbin.social 9 points 5 months ago

That doesn't spark a conversation in the post. Learn.

[-] Zorque@kbin.social 2 points 5 months ago

You can spark conversation while also actually knowing something yourself. Ignorance is not the only way to engage.

[-] Bonehead@kbin.social 11 points 5 months ago

And you can spark a conversation without being confrontational. Being insulting is not the only way to engage.

OK, bonehead

No need to be this salty.

[-] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 5 months ago

Jesus Christ South Korea. That divide is insane.

[-] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

That's good. Liberal women are hot.

[-] Omniraptor@lemm.ee 40 points 5 months ago

not sure that's the most important conclusion to draw from the article

[-] SaltySalamander@kbin.social 15 points 5 months ago

Bold of you to assume they read the article.

[-] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

There's no such thing as a "hot liberal"; liberals are inherently spineless and milquetoast. Revolutionaries are hot, but the west doesn't really have those anymore. The FBI had all of them shot, incarcerated, or exiled decades ago.
