Working on this ancient Space Wolf mini.

A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.
This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.
Rules
- Keep it civil.
- No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
- Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
- No political or social cause agenda pushing.

Any tips for painting fur? I'm going to be doing a few soulblight gravelords after I'm done this army.
Nothing more than drybrushing with large makeup brushes like this.
For visual interest I basecoated the top black and the middle and lower brown. Grey drybrushing on top, brown drybrushing in the middle, and light khaki on the lower part.
Been (slowly) working on an old Avatar of Khaine
It’s coming along great. I like the really wide progression of colors on his head.
Cheers, still work to do smoothing out that gradient though.
Been working on some Blood Raven Aggressors lately
I’m really digging the shoulder pad shading.
Thanks! It's way too many layers of wraithbone, with liberator gold trim, and seraphim sepia over top.
Another update on the Avatar, been working on a base for him as well.
Is he going to be sized to match the current sculpt size with that base?
Not a chance, the new one is over twice the height of this fella
That really puts it into perspective. And oh no I’m still thinking of the 2006 sculpt as “the new one”.
Quick update on genestealers for Space Hulk. Currently doing the dead marines on the bases with big chunky highlights.
Does anyone do a final coat to protect their figures? If so what type of paint do you use? I've noticed the paint can get damaged pretty easily after a figure is done.
Varnish. Citadel, Army Painter, and all the other hobby brands make their own.
I personally use Mr. Super Clear matte. It’s a little harder to find or more expensive, but it goes on absolutely matte which I have had problems with in the past with other brands. If I need parts of the mini to shine, I will brush on Vallejo glossy varnish afterwards where needed.
Some work in progress weapons for magnetized Space Wolf vehicles.
