If I ever 🏃🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️GO ON 👉👉a murderous 🪓rampage it will BE BECAUSE I was forced to read a 🧱🧱🧱WALL OF text with randomly ⬆️⬆️⬆️ capitalized WORDS and an 😡🤬😡 annoying sprinkling 🍦🍧🍨OF EMOJIS

For a while, I was reading these posts and trying to understand exactly what they were saying. I kept thinking there had to be some little bit of rationality in there if I just read it a few times.

Now I've realized that it's just a bunch of mumbo jumbo. They seem to think there's some sort of magic spell that if they just use the right capitalization, ink color, and magic words then all of their financial problems will disappear.

Logocentrisim is the idea that language is a proxy of reality rather than a symbolic representation of it. Sovcits just seem like the logical outcome of this kind of thought. When broken down, most of their arguments are semantic.

You've probably encountered people online who think this way, just not so extreme. They won't use that logic to file their taxes, but they will try to win debates with it.

Thanks, TIL!

They just don't have the right grimoire from the school of legoligy that will allow them to perfect a scroll to cancel their debts. Of course it's said that the only known copy was written by a mad Arab that causes the sovereign citizen to go insane once understanding the true nature of the legal system.

What, you’re saying you don’t understand her “form of method” for paying—or not paying—her bills? And you don’t see how it’s a total WIN when they send a letter back saying, “invalid form of payment?” What kind of dum dum are you

Oh, bless. Chase is one of the companies that will happily let this person have enough rope and then pull the trap door lever.

[–] deegeese@sopuli.xyz 18 points 7 months ago (2 children)

I’d expect pretty much every bank would ignore nonsense IOUs and repossess the car.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 11 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Thats the very last thing they want to do. The bank wants money not cars.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 6 points 7 months ago (2 children)

But a car can be sold for money

explain how

Goods and services can be exchanged for money

[–] ladytaters@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

But not usually the amount the person owes, which is why they'd rather keep you paying than have the car repossessed.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 2 points 7 months ago

Its like money with extra steps!

[–] ladytaters@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago

Chase is particularly hard-assed about payments, and I'm speaking from experience paying off cars for customers who are financing through them. It will be a delightful shit show for this guy.

It's a soap opera in the making.

Fuck yes popcorn.

A first grader writes more coherent English than that.

Schizophrenia seems to have found a way to spread outside of genetics.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 17 points 7 months ago

Schizophrenic people at least are often nice when they're doing well, and God bless them it's not their fault. Sovcits are n just nasty and crazy.

[–] wheeldawg@sh.itjust.works 11 points 7 months ago (1 children)

They don't try this with groceries. It's almost like they know if they have to succeed they don't try this... Hmmm

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 12 points 7 months ago (1 children)

They shoplift a lot of those and brag about it sometimes.

[–] TheFriar@lemm.ee 0 points 7 months ago (2 children)

For once I think sovcits are fine in their judgement on that one

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I am anti capitalism for sure but they are nasty.

[–] TheFriar@lemm.ee 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Same. But stealing from large corporations is a-ok with me. Even if your insane worldview make you a laughing stock as you try to mail away your debts with LEGALESE

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago
[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

I just mean they are obnoxiously entitled. Shoplifting from small business isn't cool.

[–] lemmy_get_my_coat@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

That punctuation and capitalisation was a roller-coaster

[–] Lolman228@kbin.social 6 points 7 months ago

This spelling is a cognitohazard
