What are some good tech related podcasts you can recommend? I've listened a lot to Darknet Diaries but lately, I've found it to become less and less interesting as he mostly just interviews some pentesters.

My current role includes a lot of DevOps and infrastructure on AWS and some software development. Bonus points if the podcast focuses on that but I'll check out everything tech related you can recommend.

Here is what I listen to (I also work in DevOps):

  • https://2.5admins.com/ - 2.5 Admins is a podcast featuring two sysadmins called Allan Jude and Jim Salter, and a producer/editor who can just about configure a Samba share called Joe Ressington. Every week we get together, talk about recent tech news, and answer some of your admin-related questions.
  • https://www.lastweekinaws.com/podcast/aws-morning-brief/ - Chief Cloud Economist Corey Quinn goes through the torrent of news about Amazon’s cloud ecosystem and strains out the noise. Then he takes what’s left and gently and lovingly makes fun of it.
  • https://www.lastweekinaws.com/podcast/screaming-in-the-cloud/ - Every week, listen to host Corey Quinn interview domain experts in the world of Cloud Computing to discuss AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and how businesses are coming to think about the Cloud.
  • https://latenightlinux.com/ - Late Night Linux is a podcast that takes a look at what’s happening with Linux and the wider tech industry. Every week, Joe, Félim, Graham and Will discuss the latest news and releases, and the broader issues and trends in the world of free and open source software. Expect drinking, swearing, strong opinions, and Félim being trolled about AI and the cloud.
  • https://linuxactionnews.com/ - Stay up to date on the latest news and developments in Linux and open source. Chris and Joe bring their experience and perspective to the week's events.
  • https://isc.sans.edu/podcast.html - A brief daily summary of what is important in cyber security. The podcast is published every weekday and designed to get you ready for the day with a brief, usually about 5 minute long, summary of current network security related events. The content is late breaking, educational and based on listener input as well as on input received by the SANS Internet Stormcenter.
  • https://changelog.com/podcast - Software’s best weekly news brief, deep technical interviews & talk show.

I really like Smashing Security, it definitely does headline stuff. Accidental Tech Podcast mostly discusses Apple stuff but also some general tech news.

To piggyback on this, are there any technology podcasts worth listening to that aren’t just computer technology? Like a podcast that may cover new developments in materials technology or goes over technical aspects of jet engines or some such?

twit.tv is good for more mainstream tech talk. Late Night Linux, Linux Unplugged, Self Hosted.

I like Security Now on twit…

Changelog (by Changelog Media) is a good podcast and network. They branch out a good amount and include a bit of everything.

You may also like CoRecursive because it features a diverse set of interviews. Honestly, if you like Darknet Diaries then you will probably like CoRecursive if I had to take a guess.

I really enjoy Daily Tech News Show. They have a rotating schedule of guest tech journalists and cover a broad spectrum of topics. I’ve been a listener for 6+ years and they always create high quality content.

I'll add Linux User Space for, among other things, extremely well researched and entertaining histories of different Linux distros.

I can recommend Embedded - a couple of firmware engineers with a guest
and The Amp Hour which is host/guest in electrical engineering. If you know the EEVblog, Dave is a co-host but only appears when there's no guest.

I enjoyed the self hosted podcast well enough, it's been a fair while since I last listned but I assume it's still good.

Accidental Tech Podcast for Apple nerds. Three devs who originally did an automotive show and realized they kept talking about tech, hence the name.

Grumpy Old Geeks. The tag line is, "What went wrong on the internet and who's to blame." How could you not wanna try that?

Command Line Heroes. I have it in my feeds but haven't tried it yet.

Dithering. Subscription-based tech news discussion in 15m twice a week. You may recognize one of the hosts as the author of Stratechery newsletter.

For web dev, I like "Syntax" with Wes Bos and Scott Tolinski
