Scenario (steps to reproduce)

  1. Log in to sync with an account with a home instance other than lemmy.world

  2. Note that the instance shows as a remote I stance in the sidebar.

  3. Attempt to upvote a post on the home instance.

  4. Receive a "Post not local" message.

  5. Clicking through the message to upvote, or even see comments, works but the upvote doesn't seem to stick.

I can't reproduce this. Which instance are you logging into to?

It's the lemmynsfw.com instance. It's also not loading messages so maybe it's an issue with the instance?

I heard a "friend" was unable to load his subscriptions feed on that same instance in sync but loaded local, everything, and individual communities just fine.

Did you have your "local" feed favourited? I did and it caused errors since it's no longer called that. I had "local" and "beehaw" listed so I had to unfavourite "local".

Ah good catch, forgot about that

[โ€“] Kerensky1101@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I tried that but no luck

Maybe try to login to that instance again? Maybe the problem is that Sync just isn't handling the access denied correctly. Viewing Local is usually open to the public, at least in my experience.
