I wouldnt give that cat a bath for 1000 dollars

[-] neanderthal@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

I'd hope not. 1000 dollars wouldn't cover the hospital visit! 100k and I would consider it.

[-] Limeey@lemmy.world 65 points 10 months ago

Ugh that face. Now I have an urge to snuggle a mountain lion. I bet I can do it, too. Once.

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 27 points 10 months ago

I'm sure you could snuggle a mountain lion every day for the rest of your life.

[-] qooqie@lemmy.world 60 points 10 months ago

This could be Messi the Russian puma. He is incredibly small for a puma so a couple have been looking after him and he seems to be doing very well with them last I heard!

[-] dudewitbow@lemmy.ml 17 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Yes this i believe is a bath picture of Messi

Dibs on the band name

Pumas don't dislike water as much as some other cats. They're not quite as good swimmers as Jaguars, but some of them live on islands and swim for over a kilometer to go to new territory.

[-] Neato@kbin.social 32 points 10 months ago

I'm more surprised a mountain lion is allowing a human to touch its paws and head.

[-] agressivelyPassive@feddit.de 23 points 10 months ago

Maybe it was young and hungry. If the big hairless bear gives you food and water, you might think it's only fair to let it touch you.

And typing this, this sounds awfully child-abuse-y. I want to emphasize, that I'm referring to large cats and petting in a manor appropriate for felines.

[-] wahming@monyet.cc 4 points 9 months ago

Omg, you're a feline abuser

[-] spauldo@lemmy.ml 6 points 9 months ago

It's OK. I know a few dog groomers and they're all nice people.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 3 points 9 months ago

You realize the text on the picture is a joke. Right? They didn't just randomly find this mountain lion.

How did you befriend a cougar?

How did you befriend a cougar?

[-] paraphrand@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

Depends on your age.

[-] Wanderer@lemm.ee 22 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I actually know this.

You get them from a young age and train them. They actually have different personalities and some can be very friendly. They do actually act a lot like cats and will do things like rub up against your leg and lick you and stuff (they like salt on your sweat. But there tongue is like sandpaper and they can lick the skin off), they also do cat like things and look at you like they will kill you and occasionally try to scratch your face off. A friend of my wrestled with one until the person he was working with finished his piss and could help out.

They like water or at least some of them do.

They aren't that big and strong but they are fast like a cat. The one I looked after probably didn't want to actually kill anyone so maybe it wasn't going 100%.

I worked in a dodgy animal sanctuary for animal that couldn't be released into the wild.

Anyone that keeps these as a pet is a cunt.

[-] GarytheSnail@programming.dev 5 points 9 months ago

Our orange has a brutal sandpaper tongue. I've had a few other cats but his is by far the most painful, and he happens to be the most cuddly one as well.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 3 points 9 months ago

Adult males can grow to an excess of 8 feet in length, including the tail, and weigh an average of 140-150 pounds. They're plenty big and strong to murder people.

Human domestication of felines 6000bce (colorized)

[-] muirc@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago

Project Update: Domestication has failed. Felines have now enslaved human populace.
