According to a study by the University of Washington, 100% of sampled surfaces on TriMet light rails tested positive for low levels of meth.

Doesn’t surprise me whatsoever. Policing on trimet seems to be non existent and it’s been known as the crime train for quite some time. Portland police have an entire division dedicated to transit police but seems like they don’t do much after 5pm.

"Portland" police are largely non-local (IIRC >80%), and that's compounded by the leadership purposefully lessening coverage in a shitty attempt to "show" City Hall they deserved more money, respect, etc. The latter was recently admitted in an interview, FFS. 🤦🏼‍♂️

ACAB. Fuck the police, but especially these assclowns here

I think I remember the same statistic about how many were actually not from Portland. I also remember reading a piece that said while PPD claims their budget was severely slashed over the years it was actually the opposite, but wasn’t able to find another story for confirmation. I did not see the interview about them lessening coverage, but I had suspected they would do something like that 😒

I think society still needs some type of police force but would agree these clowns need to go and someone more competent needs to be there.

The police in general don't seem to do much. I've called them maybe 10 times in the last 6 months, mostly for violent or potentially violent situations. The only times I got a response were the times I found dead people. Once a guy with a gun was threatening neighbors, the officer called me back, saying he's not coming because the guy hadn't committed a crime yet.

It's not often I see people smoking out of tin foil, but it happens enough that I'm not surprised at all. At this point when people bring lit joints onto the max I'll think to myself "could be worse". I feel bad for parents that have to bring their children on with them, I'd ask for more police intervention but we all know how THAT would go
