I thought till the last moment the Invictus would be able to activate its hyperdrive and jump away but no, the maniacs actually did it, they blew it up! I felt a great disturbance in the Force.
Well looks like Demerzel didn't want Day to stay on Trantor for his safety but because she was worried he'd handle the situation in typical Empire fashion. Looks like Demerzel has given up on this Day incarnation with those words before her departure.
It looked like Day was crying after that brutal insult she gave him. Knowing how petty Day can be at even the slightest offense it seems like he is incapable of harming her or even talking back.
I had hoped Demerzel's origin would be kept a mystery for a little longer, with this episode only revealing her being found by Cleon I.
I'm fine with this, it does simplify the dynamic between dem and hari which I thought might be closer to kindred spirits in alliance.
Last episode was great, this one is more of a "huh...".
I like her relationship with the cleons more now though.
Blatant speculation possibly spoiling the ending of the season
I think we haven't seen the last of the castling device. Consider the following:
- Back when castling devices were introduced, Hober Mallow demonstrated that only one party needed a castling device for it to work;
- Foundationers were somehow able to move from the planet's surface to Invictus after the empire had already blockaded Terminus;
- Bel Riose felt like it was all too easy, he was worried he was being led into a trap;
- There were really a lot of devices in that bin that Poly knocked over in the church;
- Demerzel, after meeting with Harry Seldon in an enviroment where the latter had full control and could easily sneak a message past Day, suddenly felt like she had to be elsewhere.
I think the last episode is going to reveal that it all indeed was a trap, and that a lot of Foundationers have castled aboard Shining Destiny, stranding part of Bel Riose's crew on Invictus and the planet's surface right before both are annihilated. Hober Mallow ends up stabbing Day, thus piercing his hide and requiring Demerzel to decant a new ~~clone~~ Cleon.
That all sounds pretty cool. I could have sworn they mentioned all those devices they were producing were "personal aura" devices thus being a shield, but that could have just been Day not being aware of what they were. Perhaps the technology of a personal aura but used differently can become a teleporting device.
It's also possible Hari didn't even need to sneak anything to Demerzel. I think merely mentioning that the prime radiant is right there and that she could understand it was enough for her to be curious. I can't recall if she actually took it? I suppose they could have snuck it out with her.
Day can be seen holding the prime radiant as they leave the vault.
I'm hoping for a good episode tonight. I'll have to get to it in a bit. I'm actually looking forward to it after that last one.
I... I think you should wait to watch it till after the finale drops. Hit them back to back.
Just, just based on my experience, it ends on a bit of a "huh..." note.
Is it considered a spoiler if I make a prediction for the next episode? Not using psychohistory, I promise!
Vault Hari survived. Because he’s bound to the Radiant, the thing he gave away to Demerzel!
Don’t know how Flesh Hari survived though. That’s pretty cool.
Hover has motivation to get Cleon now. Also cool.
