A gaming sub free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it's price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don't meet the system requirements, or just haven't had the time to keep up with the latest releases.

So I am a JRPG lover from an early age but somehow never got around to this game; I apparently purchased it, I think back on the PS3 and never got around to it. But with the HD Re-Master I finally got around to playing. What a great story, great characters, I loved the mixed battle system. Ironically, the lack of grind (most enemies provide little XP, only bosses really level you) was much appreciated as my time these days is limited. Much overlooked gem that I really enjoyed, anyone else only discover it with it latest release?

I impulse purchased this in a Best Buy value bin for $15 in the early 2000s knowing absolutely nothing about it. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

I play through LoD once every few years, and I always thoroughly enjoy it from start to finish. The additions system is incredibly satisfying, the story and characters are good, it's just a great game all around.

Note that if you play it on emulators, there's a hacking program that lets you modify tons of different variables - my most recent playthrough I played without Dart in the party at all, and had a ton of fun seeing which combinations of the other three characters I liked best. I ended up with Meru, Haschel, and Albert, which, between Blossom Storm and Meru's speed and insane magic stat, was completely broken.

I did not know there was an HD release. I played it back in old times. I vaguely remember it's unique awesomeness... but I also remember that I never finished because the combat required special button pressing? or combo moves around the whole controller? And it was a case of "I KNOW IM DOING IT RIGHT WHY ARENT YOU REGISTERING IT" and I stopped.

I would have also been a young teen at the time. But I do think of it and always wonder if I should have gone back!

Combos are difficult at first but once you get the hang of it the combat is fun and rewarding.

Legend of dragoon is worth playing if you like jrpgs.

I played it back in the 2000s when it came out for PS1. Would love a HD Release for PC.
BTW FF, Suikoden, Grandia and Saga Frontier series got remasters on Steam 👍

I never actually got around to playing it myself, but as a kid I loved watching my dad play it on PS1. I still to this day listen to the banger music it has on a regular basis. I had no idea there was an HD Remaster, I'll have to check that out!!

Oh My GAWD I had no idea this was remastered! I have been feeling nostalgia for it, now I het to do it on my PS5!!!

I’m a huge fan of the game, and replay it ever bunch of years. People really criticized it because Sony was getting in on the JRPG craze. It got compared to FF7 and dropped in between FF8 and FF9 which drew a lot of comparisons. But I think you made some great points about what the game did a lot better than its peers. Gameplay was strong.

The addition system was awesome at a time where turn based RPGs were a bit static, and though the characters were a bit cliche I loved the story it told and the world building the game did. I’ve been pining for a prequel set during the dragon campaign. It’s a huge risk and would need a large budget, for a limited audience that even knows the franchise. Still, I think there’s plenty of untapped potential and it could be a big hit.

Lots of iconic parts in that game, very memorable areas and moments. Awesome soundtrack, the menu theme and Bale’s town theme are two songs that I think about and hear in my head to this day.
