Recently made the switch to Mint from Windows. I am having a problem with FF though. Randomly but very frequently I see your most basic page load very slow if not at all. I have disabled hardware acceleration as some research has suggested but it still has the same issue. This happens on both my laptop and desktop.

Two potential things:

  1. Hardware acceleration, try turning it of and or on again
  2. IFK why but xdg-desktop-portal-gnome cab cripple some programs like Firefox, remove it

I disabling cisco open h264 helps, and use local ffmpeg on firefox

xdg-desktop-portal-gnome crippled my install as well - both Firefox and Steam took an absolute age to open. Uninstall it, everything perfect again.

  • Can you give more information about your setup/system and firefox installation/version? ESR? Flatpak? DEB?
  • Can you give any steps for others to reproduce/compare your issue?

A first good ideas is always to create a second seperate profile (for example via about:profiles) and see if your issue can be reproduced with a fresh one without any modifications. The result will give a solid hint if your problem is profile or browser/system related.

Weird, I've never had an issue like this (using mint as well). You sure it's just Firefox? It could be an internet issue causing stuff to load slowly.
