My understanding of the current situation is that EPA Guidelines give a lot of wiggle room / outright don't control vehicles above a certain size. Therefore manufacturers are reducing the vehicles that actually get regulated by those guidelines in favor of monster trucks for grocery getters.

At the beginning of the pandemic people didn't know much about COVID and did whatever they could to keep safe. Especially in high risk households. As better research became available many of the approaches such as wiping down groceries got used less.

I went to PopOS after finding Nvidia driver management to be an absolute nightmare in other distros. If you have an Nvidia card I'd start there.
