I meant a library unknown to me specifically. I do encounter hallucinations every now and then but usually they're quickly fixable.

It's made me a little bit faster, sometimes. It's certainly not like a 50-100% increase or anything, maybe like a 5-10% at best?

I tend to write a comment of what I want to do, and have Copilot suggest the next 1-8 lines for me. I then check the code if it's correct and fix it if necessary.

For small tasks it's usually good enough, and I've already written a comment explaining what the code does. It can also be convenient to use it to explore an unknown library or functionality quickly.

More people should know about the JDA definition of antisemitism, it is much clearer, much more sensible and not as self-contradictory as the deeply flawed IHRA definition: https://jerusalemdeclaration.org/

Many military experts have commented that Israel has done a very effective job at minimizing civilian casualties. If if were truly indiscriminate, the death toll would be much, much higher.

The IDF has killed more women and children in the past year than any other conflict in the past two decades: https://www.oxfam.org/en/press-releases/more-women-and-children-killed-gaza-israeli-military-any-other-recent-conflict

According to research in The Lancet, the number of total deaths is at ~186000. That's everyone including those who died of preventable causes, e.g. hunger or prevetable disease, e.g. direct and indirect deaths.

According to professor Michael Spagat, the estimated percentage of civilians is around 80% (https://aoav.org.uk/2024/netanyahu-got-it-wrong-before-the-us-congress-idfs-clean-performance-in-gaza-is-a-lie/). Even conservative estimates put it at at least 61%, which is the worst for any modern conflict since WW2.

Based on calculations of the demographic of the dead and the living (e.g. how much does the general population differ from the dead? Are there more dead men of fighting age than in the genral population, etc...), it appears that whilst Israel may target Hamas fighters, it takes next to no effort to avoid civilian casualties in the process. For example, the IDF often targets homes of suspected Hamas fighters, taking out entire families.

So I don't know which "military experts" think Israel is doing a good job on this, because the ones I'm seeing seem to agree on the opposite.

Terrorism is more about the intent rather than the result. Did Israel intend to instill terror in the civilian population or did they genuinely try to target Hezbollah militants (and perhaps didn't care much about any civilian casualties)?

Students were informed before the assignment, so he knew he shouldn't have used it. This handbook is not some legal document or something so I don't think the parents have a case. If anything the kid got away easy with a 65 instead of a 0.

He's already given you 5 examples of positive impact. You're just moving the goalposts now.

I'm happy to bash morons who abuse generative AIs in bad applications and I can acknowledge that LLM-fuelled misinformation is a problem, but don't lump "all AI" together and then deny the very obvious positive impact other applications have had (e.g. in healthcare).

The kid had already previously been informed that using AI tools like this is considered academic dishonesty. The rules had been made clear to him before the assignment.

He already got away eays with a 65/100 instead of a 0.

I don't know, but the critics won't be the ones to have to do so. They can point towards comments like yours suggesting that non-Jewish people should become members to begin claiming it's a "fake" Jewish org. This sows distrust in the organisation.

At least, that is what I think the other commenter meant. I don't care who becomes a member myself.

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 3 points 1 month ago (5 children)

If a lot of non-Jewish people become members, critics could argue that the organisation isn't really "Jewish" voices for peace.

Nintendo has their own emulators for running these games on newer consoles.

Not even Israeli media agrees with you: https://www.thejc.com/news/world/greta-thunberg-gave-stage-to-activist-who-supported-october-7-terror-efdtlitc

There is no suggestion that Thunberg has expressed the views espoused by Rachdan.

Also, conflating criticism of Israel and antisemitism is by itself antisemitic, as you're placing the blame for the actions of the Israeli government on Jewish people in general. See also: https://jerusalemdeclaration.org/

  1. Holding Jews collectively responsible for Israel’s conduct or treating Jews, simply because they are Jewish, as agents of Israel.
