The privacy factor indeed needs to be looked at more. I sought refuge in the Fediverse to prevent FB from getting enough data points to profile me down to the soul. I'm pretty sure a huge margin of users here came for the same. Federating with such a cancerous entity defeats the purpose of migrating to here to quite an extent.

Yeah I wanna know too. The one time I get lazy and don't back up my password database, Bitwarden decides to shit itself and lose my Lemmy password. Now I'm stuck in the Jerboa app.

Jerboa is developed by Lemmy's devs. It's fairly decent, though it needs some polish in the search functionality.

I'm still waiting for an announcement from the dev of Infinity. But things don't look any better. The only one I feel bad about is them. Spez can eat shit while watching his platform meet the same fate as Digg.

Load distribution. Different Lemmy instances are run by different volunteers who can only put so much money into them. So if lots of volunteers put up their own instances, then ideally each instance could have a few users signed up and thanks to federation, they'll all be interconnected.

I mean, if you're using GrapheneOS, you're probably already smart enough to not use microG at all if privacy concerns you, or use their sandboxed Google Play if you really need that.

I gotta say, it's been less than 20 minutes since I joined here, and it feels... refreshing. Tried signing up on some other instances, but they don't respond, seemingly due to overloading. A decentralized network is gaining steam and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for firing up this instance, and cheers!
