It's not just a shitty place, as a corporation it actively fuels shitty practices that are felt across all social media and the internet in general. I'd rather take their users and build something better with them.

It doesn't feel great when you want to make the switch just to find the analogous lemmy communities have 100-5000 members with the last post being 3 weeks ago as opposed to 100k+ with 10 posts in the last hour. The only way to fix that is with new users. Whether from the old site or not, new users is how these communities will grow and flourish. If you want to gatekeep, go ahead but I think you'll only be slowing the adoption of the fediverse and letting the problems that incentivized its creation fester.

I have a 2nd pressing Hemispheres by Rush and a 1st or 2nd (I forget which) pressing of Kind Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King. Also have a few old inherited ones I haven't dug into on Discogs. Just got Eagles - The Long Run and Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band - Stranger in Town as well, haven't looked into pressing year yet.

I have a bunch of new pressings from newer artists as well, new pressings of classics like Queen, AC/DC and Pink Floyd, some GY!BE, some thrift store classical records, and some soundtracks including some limited releases.

Going to be listening to 1 new record per day till I get through them all, hardest part is going to be choosing

Nothing in particular, just Disney being Disney. Had the subscription for family, was finally able to cut the cord recently

Don't worry, I assume nothing. Call me naive, but I'd rather be likely shouting into the void than staying quiet and possibly missing an opportunity to be heard

I know it's unlikely to have done anything much, but if no one speaks they definitely won't be heard. At least there's a small chance for someone to understand the company is shitty. A small grain of doubt can grow into dissent with time. Worth the gamble of a little time to me

Because I need to at least try to tell them their shitty practices are hitting them in the only place that matters to them: their wallet. I don't think my little survey will do much in the grand scheme of things, but many small thing make big thing so I do what I can. I made it very clear they're pushing people back to the high seas

I hand out up votes like candy because engagement is how we're going to get new users and kill the other site. I'd rather people karma farm here than by putting money in the pockets of the ultra-rich tbh

I got another LP in the mail today and was about to put it in the crate with the rest when I impulse bought this little guy from the nearby Best Buy because I just had to hear it.

I got the Victrola as a gift a few years ago, along with a few albums to get started. I quickly learned how bad it was for the vinyl after playing some new, cheap pressings a few times. Kept getting vinyl with the intent of saving up enough for a nice direct-drive Technics, but it never worked out money-wise.

Finally decided to compromise and not wait until I could get my forever-table before just getting one. Looking forward to working my way through my collection, it's got some real gems in there now.

First listen was the new Spiritbox album Tsunami Sea, if anyone's curious.

Got Paradise after playing Takedown into the ground and words could not express my disappointment. I had fun and all but it never felt as good as Takedown did. Open world and Burnout is just not my favorite combination

Slowly but surely, one piece at a time. I can finally play my 50+ LP collection without damaging the crap out of it, feels good
