We're doing this for the indies, says multi million dollar corporation who ripped off an indie dev and has a generative AI game

Lol at the corporation that started developing Palworld with 10 people. And

  • Had to hire a 20 years old middle school graduate part time convenience store worker as the guy responsible for everything gun related.
  • Migrated from C# Unity to C++ Unreal when no one on the team except the newly hired lead know about C++ and Unreal.
  • ect

You can read the interview and see if it's a corporation. https://note.com/pocketpair/n/n54f674cccc40

ripped off an indie dev

This is inspired. If it is considerd ripped off, we wouldn't even have Path of Exiles,Soul-like games,WOW-clones, ect. And checking the screenshots, the art direction looks different enough.

Higher res textures and shadow can be easy to spot. Go from lower setting -> high -> ultra setting, you can see the graphic different. Heavily Stylised game won't look as good if you play it at lower setting compared to higher setting.

Gameplay/Graphic

Yeah. Skyrim still has graphic mods today, people mod Minecraft to look better. Play enough of pretty graphic games and the standard is set, it's hard to go back.

To be honest i would trust Yogthos who has been posting news threads for years than some paid journalists that has an agenda to whatever news they report. It resembles the old forum era where if you hang around long enough, you can trust/trust a little some users.

I was just stating the norms of Japanese devs being bad at English. Not blaming it as the marketing direction is totally on the devs. One could argue the controversial marking worked and the game got more popular because of it.

For me, as far as marketing goes, trailers > reviews > steam description.

The most important part is try it. I tried Paradox games a couple of time, a couple tries later and I could see why people are into it.

Japanese devs and English go well together.

Check the trailers. I was put off at first but tried it after checking the trailer and read the reviews which most of them state that the exploit/slavery is not the focus. There is free straw-hat-pirates demo btw.

I watched the trailers first and the vibe from the trailers are very adventuring with your pals. Reading the description without context can give bad impressions if you assume the worst. It has solo mode and dedicated servers (rare feature in gaming now) so chuds or not, you won't see them anyway.

The trailers in release order:

Slavery playstyle is more of a meme. You're more pushed into the playstyle of improving the Pals's condition, upgrade path from better bed, better hotspring, better food, ... so they can work and rest better. It's a sandbox survival game, you can choose how to play it.

You can improve the pal's life ingame, but you as the pal in real life is kitty-birthday-sad

This is wrong. Reddit app has ads, collects data, no UI customization, ect and runs like ass on old phone.
