I have a 2 running teamspeak for gaming with my wife (separate rooms and don't want to yell) and pihole. And a 3 hooked to a 3d printer running octoprint.

Larian already did excellent split screen in D:OS2 (Maybe also in other games, no idea). The controller UI is very different from the M+K one and split screen is only available with controller input.

But what resolution? That might the big factor here. I have the same performance, but in 4k. They might be playing in 1080p

It's a love letter to star trek. I strongly recommend you give it another try to get through the first season, because by season 2 they found their stride and it got way better.
