Alternative to Minio ? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Hello,

I'm currently using Minio as an easy database for serving my images. To make things simpler everything is set to public, so that just with the URL, you can access it directly. While it's working great for my website, by setting everything public you can easily see ALL the images. So my question is : What is the best way to setup my node JS app as a proxy ? Is it going through the full S3 protocol hell mess, or is there any solution ?

PS : I have a lot of images, so setting everything in the node app is not possible

Server at home (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 6 months ago by Mateleo@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/homelab@lemmy.ml

Two friends and I would like to build a PC as a server in my house. The idea would be to have a headless server with 3 VMs. I was wondering what would be the best thing to do so that everyone could have their own private space, while optimizing disk space as much as possible (1TB M.2 SSD + 8TB HDD via RAID1). Each of us could play with Docker to have services on top. What software would you use to set up VMs and manage disks, and what advice would you give us in general?

The other option would be to go cloud, with Hertnez + Mega (autoscaling).

I wasn't quick enough to answer @vsq, but I'd really like to know, as a false beginner, isn't renting a VPS server considered as selfhosting? Even if I have all my services on it (Jellyfin, n8n, Immich, TeamCity etc).

France 100%, so for the moment it's not a problem at all. But I was thinking about for the future.

I'll check it out, I'll learn more about CouchDB. Thks ;)

My app and DB are on the same server, even more the same Docker Network. Environments separated by region seem to be the best solution for my use case. I hadn't thought of that at all, thank you very much.

I'll make a note of that, thanks!

Scale to other countries (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) by Mateleo@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/selfhosted@lemmy.world

Hello everyone !
I have a node app and a PostgreSQL DB in VPS using Docker, with Coolify as a CI/CD, nothing too fancy, you might say.

My question is the following.
I have a lot of read/write on my DB and even the lowest increase in DB latency can have an impact on my users' experience. As my VPS is in France, what could be the best/easiest (selfhosted?) option to solve this problem in other regions (North America, Asia...) ?

Thks in advance 🎄🎁

Hi everyone, I was wandering how to bypass plane limitation on WiFi. Companies are offering free WiFi limited to SMS and WhatsApp. Is there anything available to have a complete internet access without paying their 30$ option ?

I tested VPN but no connections seems possible.

Thank you for your reply! I've just tested with my VPN and Hong Kong gives me the best speed. (Like 20x more)

Is it possible to add eMule as a source for Radarr or Sonarr? I've noticed that eMule is often used for older content.
