Being real, it's much, much stranger to imagine a scenario in which an assassination attempt doesn't shake someone to the core. I'm just glad that it broke him rather than turning the maniac dial.

The cynic in me thinks that once everyone realised that Trump survived AND the shooter was a Republican and not a Democrat obsessed communist, there was no reason to keep it in the news cycle. But you just know that if there was the slightest scent of leftism on him, we'd still be hearing about it to this day.
