I had problems getting this to work on several of the larger mastodon instances when I've tried it previously. I ended up moving to a completely different mastodon instance and it just worked as described
Oh I can guarantee some loser has taken it upon themselves to do this to in their eyes protect their beloved website
I haven't read the post over on Reddit, I refuse to visit the site.
Of course there will be misinformation floating around there always is in these kind of situations, reddit would be a ghost town over night otherwise
If the people running a server want to vet people that's upto them they pay the bills? I remember some mastodon servers used to do the same.
It's great to see more Lemmy/Kbin instances being stood up despite what some moaning Micheal might think of the platform.
Other than the niche communities I've been subbed to for quite a while. I don't miss the grifters and professional bullshit peddlers.
