I WILL BURN THE GOOGLEPLEX TO THE FUCKING GROUND!

13

It's stressing me out to leave communities that are relevant to it unblocked. The sheer cynicism is affecting my mood and I'm having to block all communities about real life news of any kind for personal health, so I am wondering if anyone considers "A Boring Dystopia, but instead of being boring, it's edgy or (at best) a cool workaround for corporate internet BS." a deserving project to continue? I plan to remain lead mod but give the first new moderator free reign; I wouldn't be asking this if I had any intention of ever pulling anything stupid like deleting it on a whim, I think I would like to see it continue but in better hands than my own.

I can't take reading about how the world is collapsing every fucking day, if anyone wants a mod position and has experience, DM me and I'll give you free reign with an exception for banning me from A Nerdy Dystopia (I will keep the main moderator position to prevent this). Shouldn't be that hard to run a community like this if you're used to A Boring Dystopia's posts, it's basically this but the posts are about subverting corporate control or about how non-boringly evil some people are. I just want to relax and can't run a community like A Nerdy Dystopia without getting stressed by all potentially-relevant content.

Apparently this was missed, so for posterity I'm cross-posting it. Sadly, this is old news, not actually a new update. Still a good feature, though.

GTX is an RPNation fandom RP that takes place in a heavily-modified version of the official lore of Glitch Techs, that adds in a backstory that places Hinobi and PLixel Technology as originating in the aftermath of WWII (PLixels were used to defeat Japan rather than nukes, much more humane and less lethal than you might be imagining, this isn't a grey goo kind of story) and the existence of many fictional megacorps from across fiction.

It includes a lot of references; Krei Tech and Buy'n'Large are as canon as Arasaka and Vault-Tec in GTX's weird mish-mash, but leaning heavily towards the former because this is a very lighthearted and pro-escapist RP with a general theme of "scummy business practice doesn't pay" as Hinobi's monopoly arose due to extensive abuse of legal loopholes by Hinobi's competitors, who are usually corrupt megacorps from stories less optimistic than Glitch Techs that went bankrupt trying to act like they did in their source material. Among the other survivors are Innovative Online Industries (headed by a lookalike of Ratchet from the CGI movie Robots), microDyne (a merger of Cyberdyne Systems who created SkyNet, and microTech from Star Citizen) and - due to being a new introduction - Volpe who is a new company founded after the majority of others went out of business.

Anyway, feel free to read and join if you're interested.

Sadly, this is literally the case; it's a genetic deformity she and other people have had from birth.

My mom is this, cats love her and she doesn't mind too much even though she's allergic to them, but it does mean she can't pet them because cat hair gives her watery eyes, stuffed up nose and sneezes/coughing.

If not for that and that some cats pee on everything, I'd love to adopt a cat. They're basically a furry parent if they like you, that's why they sometimes try to bring you gifts (they think you're a kitten because you can't hunt).

I like to make sure other people's pets are comfy or happy when I visit someone or see someone walking their dog by taking notice and being nice, dogs and cats especially are usually happy to be noticed!

Tbh, this is me, and I totally get it; I have undersized sinuses so my sense of smell is sometimes less than it should be, and I prefer to not shower because I always feel like I'm freezing when I get out until I dry off. That said, I'm not trying to be disgusting, and actually appreciate if someone politely reminds me to shower because I'm too absentminded to remember to at least shower once a week and before going somewhere with a lot of people. I absolutely will get myself cleaned up if you ask nicely, I don't appreciate cigarette smoke myself partly because it stinks (I don't smoke and neither do any of my family, but unfortunately it's pretty common here for complete strangers to do so in front of doorways to stores) so I can understand if something about me smells gross and you need me to wash.

Interestingly, there's evidence that showering every day is actually too much and it should be twice/thrice a week (essentially every two days) instead. If I could meet that standard on my own, I would, and I'm thankful to be able to explain myself here even if no relevant person will ever see it.

Thanks to OP for this green text. Sometimes people do need it bluntly, I became a better person overall in 2015 because someone who did care about me pointed out some things I'd done that were hurting the people around me in subtle ways.

Fair enough, we'll leave it at that.

And then people wonder why I have more hope for Star Citizen (currently on Alpha 3.22.x and about to go to 3.23, which will likely involve a big number of features being completed) which has been in development for 12 goddamn years, than I do for Bethesda games. Fallout peaked at New Vegas and 4 was just borrowing from Obsidian's successful design.

Freaking Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky were able to be fixed, this is a corporate culture issue.

Otherwise in 10 years we may not have a place to find tech support resources.

Okay, is it just me or is the total global revenue for physical media music less than $2 USD a year? I must be reading it wrong.

So is art itself. I might not name things the same as my inspirations or create anything identical, but I haven't written a single thing that wasn't based on something else.

I don't want the AI being trained on my work either, but that's because I oppose "automated mass slavery"

"Oh, you don't want to be a slave in return for only the most basic of food and shelter? Sure, see if there are any jobs out there anymore, now that robots can do all of it for rich arrogant god complex sufferers like me. Lets lay the new ground rules... You're DISPOSABLE to me. Beg and worship or die." - A designated slaveowner's thought process, 2084.

Stop thinking like a capitalist and start thinking like you're an angry drunk if you really believe LLM should be outlawed. Envy is not a flattering look on anyone, you included. At least protests and riots get shit done, even if that means sacrificing a lifestyle you're clearly only enjoying thanks to being self-centered in your artistic pursuits.

Fact is, art is SO hard that I am in my 30s, broke and have no employable skills other than research, social skills (barely, blame Autism for ruining it for me) and creative ability.

I earned, like, $15 to $20 CAD from publishing a book of short stories on Amazon over 2 years. Before you ask why, I am not excluding quality as a possibility but for the most part it's because nobody is into optimistic post-singularity sci-fi anymore and I refuse to rely on anything but word of mouth for advertisement because screw the advertocracy.

My point is, if people pirate Cody Gibling's works, I'd rather they do so because I only want enough money to be comfortable and anything else I get would be aimed at more serious pursuits like activism. You know what I pirate? Anything that they make too hard to access in the first place. Like dead MMOs or completed movies that were cancelled to get the studio a free tax break.

This. Didn't even use my Pixel 8 (then brand-new) until Grapheme OS was available for it (my Pixel 7 Pro got damaged beyond repair in an incident, not happy but though I expect privacy I don't expect a phone to survive ~20G of force) because fuck Google.

There's an interesting little game called Insignificant I've been keeping an eye on for a while that does a similar thing if not as graphically-rich. There's also Smalland and Moss.

Apparently 3 people can't admit George Clooney isn't wearing that shirt to say they're "losers", he's wearing it to say they're evil, and stupid enough that they're doomed to lose because they are ignorant of actual history.

I criticize woke culture for being a glorified PR campaign all the time, but the alt-right can go to hell for all I care. Trump committed voter fraud, he was NEVER actually President. We just didn't find out until after he lost re-election and it was too late for any true justice to actually matter.
