You can use forks of Signal which removed the proprietary part. For example there is Molly (Hardened Signal) which has two version and one of them is fully foss.

Brave is more secure, in terms of safety, because it's base on chromium and has unique Privacy Features. If you won't use Brave, LibreWolf or hardened Firefox is ur best choice.

You would need to control the site from where u open Reddit for example by clicking a link + control reddit to test if connect to this site. And even this is not a goo methode + common fingerprinting protections will prevent this.
